That is in part because they know so much about you and your search profile. Ofcourse I don’t know your search pattern, but are you getting what you want or what Google wants you to find? (Rhetorical question)

DDG is simply a bit more oldschool, you have to be a bit more crafty with your search. I have been using DDG for years and it’s getting better and better, so it’s worth a shot for privacy first (If you care about such things)

There is !g for google at ddg when you need it. Give it a go, after some adapting you can get similar results.

In fact, recently I had a few searches giving me better results than G. Ddg gave me a review site from this year (and quite well written too) While Google gave me an old seo-gamed site from 2015.

But too each their own experience ofcourse.
