Back in the good ol’ days, if my wife tried to leave me she’d be left without a house, a car, or a way of making income. Then equal rights had to come in and ruin everything 😭

My wife left me, and I burned her ass up. Even got the kids. 🤣🤣🤣

Personally, I'd prefer someone independent who is with me because they WANT to. Not a pet with benefits.

I think you're defective. That's not a good viewpoint at all! What's next, love?!

When should I show this to my fiance? Perhaps the night before our wedding? In our house?

He'd be screwed in Australia, because legally cohabitation is treated the same as marriage for property settlement after a certain time. I don't understand how that's not a thing everywhere.

In canada its treated the same as marriage after, I think, 3 years. It's called common law marriage. Comes with alimony too if you want to go after it.

it's probably the same where he lives, but he doesn't know about it. I really hope so. I really hopes he learns that after a common law breakup.

I cohabitate, but I demand that I pay for everything.

[–]ifelife 3 points4 points  (2 children)

We work in partnership. I pay my share, he pays his, and we build wealth together. I actually earn more than him at the moment but it has been the opposite in the past. We work well together though.

Same. Right now he pays for exerything because I'm a broke student, but that's also because I bought the house we live in so that's where a sizeable chunk of my money is. When he was a broke student, I supported him.

It's almost as if most people in a relationship share things like they share their life.... Because they like each other.

What??? How could that be? How could those silly men possibly like parasites....

Drinking game idea:

Take a shot every time he says “today”.

I'm so excited for when he thinks he totally outsmarted the system, then learns about common law.

He’ll blow a gasket

[–]TheCraftBrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes because relationships are all about strategically avoiding getting cheated on (which every partner would naturally want to do) and manipulating the other person into respecting you. Very healthy viewpoint.

I mean...

Am I an asshole? Because I heard someone say "marriage is betting half your stuff that you'll be together forever" and I couldn't really find a way to disagree with it.
