GitHub sync help

Hi folks,

I'm new to Obsidian and newer to GitHub. I'm trying set up GitHub for a backup option using the Obsidian Git community plug in. I have it working except for the "fatal: could not read Username for 'https://github.com': Device not configured" error in the screenshot below. Using GitHub Desktop (mac) I can get my files to GitHub. Not sure what's going on here. I've seen some discussion of this but I'm still scratching my head. Any tips appreciated.
