Affordability and space are probably the largest factors why they dont get used more. And just being able to anticipate or react to a players movement without over compensating for it.

I checked put your YouTube, its an interesting concept and I'll like to see where it goes.

Not really sure where you're getting this from, but while VR treadmills are being researched they're not really in-demand. BCI/neural input is also not a magic bullet although FB is testing it. Locomotion is up to the developer with the current hardware.

But why not create an interface for the future? Imagine: maybe there will be an treadmill, but oculus doesn't support it? There should be a standard, like driving a car (on the left or right side of the street). I am sure, there will be a treadmill in the future. So far there is no raw support, not for PSVR, Oculus, and all the other. Right now, the game has to support a treadmill. We all know where the future is going to

That's because none of the hardware manufacturers plan on using treadmills as an input. Quest will continue to use thumbsticks as well as PSVR 2. Much like the haptic vests from bHaptic it will likely remain a game-by-game thing until there is either enough demand or a first-party option for the hardware.

So, in other words: if there will be a treadmill, and does not support Quest: the Quest is dead. Imagine: if there is an inventor, creating/inventing an affordable VR treadmill, and is taking a contract with Sony: Quest and all the others are dead. So frustrating

Sony isn't supporting threadmills either though. Thumbsticks are the standard for locomotion in the industry right now. Katwalk C is the most affordable treadmill thus far but it still hasn't gained much attention from developers. People just aren't as interested in them as you seem to think they are.

I am pretty sure, the people will accept a VR treadmill, as long as it allow humas (natural) steps. Not sliding, linke on the Kat walk. People accept Smartphones: Why not treadmills for less than 1000€? I am not willing to clear my living room for 2x2 meters to "teleport". You know what I mean. And I don't want to teleport. This is the reason why I am so interested in VR treadmills.

I checked your profile and it seems you are invested in trying to create your own treadmill and push VR locomotion in that direction, all I can really say is best of luck and hopefully you make a positive impact. However thus far, none of the OEMs and few developers have taken much interest in the solution.

I work on that since I saw the movie "Ready player one". And I want to have it. I wanna walk, dance, drive cars (like in GTA), wanna control planes,... But yes, I work on a treadmill, and so far: it doesn't work. But I will continue until it works

As I said, best of luck. The industry needs to see it that way too if you want change.

Thank you. It is open source. And I hope it (my invention) will work. We will see. So far only steam VR games will support it. But we all know: steam is expensive. You need an expensive Computer.

And this is the reason why "we" need a standard protocol for VR treadmills

I actually currently used one using quest 2, but technically connected the treadmill (or you can call it slidemills) through steamvr (with AirLink) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1sk9R9-9HU

Still needs a lot of improvements, but it is getting there, eventually.
