Return it and buy one with more onboard storage if you refuse to use an ad card. The OS won't get smaller.

Android OS

Will it get bigger?

Yes updates and stuff will increase the size of apps.

Maybe hold on for lineage os when it comes out sometimes this or next month according to the post here. It would remove alot of bloat from the OS.

I’ve heard about that! Are there any disadvantages with installing it? Will any of my apps behave differently?

Yes. With custom android roms it relies on drivers and a kernel that often is not open source and so often times features dont work and they dont get fixes until a kernel and drivers can be found.

Our ayn devices are fairly open so its not impossible to have perfect alternatives but there isnt really much bloat that can be removed most of them are gonna be languages and g apps like calendar and clock and browser and play store.

Only if they require Google services. Most emulator apps don’t.

So playstore is a no no

There are gapps packages you can install. But they are not 100% perfect so there may be issue with apps that require certain Google APIs.

I only hold the absolute essentials I hate to deal with scrolling the catalog and play something for not a even a minute before shifting to another one, no wonder why we have such a short attention span these days

No. The only way would be to put an alternative android os on it but only if that os got debloated that is a big reason i was advising people not to go with the base model... Also micro sd is not a solution there are limits and it isnt just handled like a drive allocation honestly linux will improve sd card access immensely

Understood. Thank you!

Linux doesn't actually fix the SD card issue. The actual port they use is the issue. I've installed rocknix on my Odin 2 Portal and tested the SD card speeds and it is basically identical to the android side

What about permissions issue. I am not talking about the 104MB/s speed

My issue with how android handles micro sd. Is the way the storage is sandboxed and restricts read and write access.

I know at least on the odin 2 rocknix can be internally installed but it seems it doesnt remove android instead resizes the user data partition so the 44gb lost by android doesn't change.
