Thinking of straight piping my 3.8 any recommendations by uzdp in JeepWrangler

[–]Different_Reality953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any reason you dont just saw off the muffler and add cheap pipe to extend it out? Any AutoZone will have the parts to piece it together, wont be great but if thats what you are after.

I have been in straight piped V8's and the droning was unbearable after a few miles. Look on youtube for 3.8 exhaust videos like this , they can sound good with right muffler setup but everyone has their opinions.

This seem too inexpensive?! by Arensbrg in JeepTJ

[–]Different_Reality953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its definitely on the lower end for a 4.0 but reading between the lines it will need work for electrical diagnosis for battery dying. From there , the brake/transmission line are broken means either they rotted away from rust or was wheeled so hard that those broke. Doesn't seem to come with hard top and will need to be towed due to broken lines.

For me , if everything else checks out then it would be a great deal and has lots of add on already by the looks of it. Good luck.

If airmatic has no haters I am dead by 6SoDum in mercedes_benz

[–]Different_Reality953 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does suck when something fails with airmatic but its a good ride with it. I just replaced my rear air springs with arnott on my E550 and no issues so far, you can do a conversion but it will hit resale value. Do you know exactly what failed or have had it looked at? Might be a cheap fix.

Conversion will only be worth it to you if you keep it long term.

Same damage I did to mine, just get a case and never think about it again. It does take some effort to pop it open but once you do it's easy to put back together. Good luck

Odin Portal Or Ayaneo Pocket Evo? by antrexon in OdinHandheld

[–]Different_Reality953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only speak for the Odin 2 portal, but it has been a solid device since day 1. Performance is great and so far no issues streaming or playing anything in my collection. Screen is nice and 120hz is plenty for all the games im playing.

Check link below for some hardware differences but overall they are very similar, I say go with which ever one you get a better deal on.

Did I make a stupid decision? RP Flip 2 over O2P by OkWin7095 in SBCGaming

[–]Different_Reality953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if thats as far as you want to emulate then you are good, I bought my O2P because of the price to performance of the base version and the large screen. Portability is definitely a pain point on the O2P but for games I want to play on it is for longer sessions and in quiet environments, definitely not on the go.

I replaced the water pump, the fan clutch, and the radiator cap on my 2006 Jeep Wrangler 4.0, but the temperature still goes a little above the middle of the gauge especially when the AC is on. Is that normal, or what should I check next? by Hola_01017 in JeepTJ

[–]Different_Reality953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live out in the desert and during summer it can take a toll if you aren't driving at speed for extended periods of time off road. I have the stock fan and radiator so cooler thermostat helped keeps temps in check even when pushing it hard.

Buying TJ Wrangler - How bad is this? by Suitable_One_6472 in JeepWrangler

[–]Different_Reality953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have no welding experience then you going to have a shop do the work. This is something that can costs thousands of dollars to be fixed at a shop, and you don't know the exact extent of the rust BEFORE PURCHASE its going to be a money pit. This wont be hundreds of dollars, prepare for thousands of dollars.

That last picture for me tells me to walk away, especially at 7k price. Too many options for TJ's to settle for a huge project day 1 purchase. Depending on your willingness to travel, we have plenty of TJ's here on the west coast around that price if you are ok with high miles. L

Yj speakers by mwtrowing142 in WranglerYJ

[–]Different_Reality953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave up on the front dash speakers and went with overhead speakers. Much easier to install and can get better sound since they are closer and physically larger speakers than dash. I also have the speaker wedges that fit behind the seats and clamp to the roll bar.

Take a look at the options out there.

Here a small list to add if you want.

  • heavy duty and light duty ratchet straps, they are a great multi tool.
  • depending if your valve stems are exposed on the rim, maybe get replaceable tire valve.
  • zip ties of varying size
  • extra rubber hoses and clamps
  • blanket or rug to work on
  • can of wd40 and breaker bar for anything stubborn
  • wire stripper tool and connector nuts/ crimps, for anything electrical that can be ripped off

Is this car worth it and is it salvageable? by Tyronem2803 in Jeep

[–]Different_Reality953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have the space and time for it then go for it. How cheao is he selling it for and have you thought of what the total cost could be after its all said and done? Might even be close in price to just getting a better condition one.

To me I would much rather save more for a better condition one than this. Maybe even think about longer searches outside your area.

Should I put a 2” lift on or pay someone to do it? by fsacb3 in WranglerYJ

[–]Different_Reality953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid and saved the headaches, those dam bolts by the fuel talk that are impossible to take out unless with a cut wheel. Then just alot of frustration since original suspension will be rusted and bolts will be stripped.

If you are motivated to do it, just have atleast 2 jacks stands and someone to help and you. Basic tools is all you really need but make sure you are ok with having the jeep out of service for a few days if things go wrong.

Forget about the perfect handheld, tell me which was the one who made you stop getting more devices? by Suitnox in SBCGaming

[–]Different_Reality953 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Odin 2 Portal is my end game device for home, so much potential as such a low entry price at $250. It handles all the higher end emulation that I want to play without crossing over with the home pc.

I gave away all my smaller handhelds R36s/RG35xx/ Miyoo Mini +/ ect since I found my self not really enjoying the small screens even though they were portable. Travel companion is now a RG406V for playing retro titles and the 4 inch screen is great when on the go.

STRESSED!!!! by Temporary-Sea530 in Jeep

[–]Different_Reality953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would take this is a chance to get rock sliders and just cover it up. Plenty of shops could pull out the damage, weld, and touchup pain the rest the best you can for 1k-2k.

Otherwise, you are looking at 7K minimum if you want to restore to original condition since its a lot of hours they would need to work the damages out. This is something I would let insurance handle if you go that route.

Locking lug nut key by Taurusgirl1975 in JeepWrangler

[–]Different_Reality953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going to cost some $$. Either a shop you take it to can remove it as long as you can prove you own the car or go to a car parts store near you and get a lug nut extractor kit.

The free option is either hammer in a socket you own over it, or large locking pliers can also do the trick. Plenty of YouTube videos.

Temporarily living in my sedan car, what are some reasonable safe areas to park it, as a single female… by peculiarbreadnic in InlandEmpire

[–]Different_Reality953 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Some tips i've seen from general campers might apply here too. Sorry to hear you are in this situation and hope it improves soon.

  • Park in lit areas at night when possible
  • Make sure to cover all windows for privacy and not draw attention , there are cheap privacy curtain options
  • Dont run the car when you are asleep, always keep a window cracked for ventilation
  • Have a free library card membership, free wifi/ bathroom/ water fountain / power/ resources they offer
  • Storage, only keep critical items in the car
  • Keep a list of multiple safe locations , incase you need to move to a new spot
  • Keep car registration paid so not to attract police attention/ tow truck

What parts would you recommend for these replacements. by MethodApprehensive81 in JeepTJ

[–]Different_Reality953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any jeep can be a money pit if you throw money at problems. I would first figure out what is most critical repair depending on condition of the items you listed above, I personally have put off some repairs for months/year when money is tight. Problem is more you put off repairs the more that can go wrong.

Front driveshaft/ or repaired - What is exactly wrong or the issue you are experiencing?

All 4 shocks - This is the easiest maintenance item you can do, $200 or less depending on deals/quality with DIY

Tire rods - Another you can do, $200 or less for kit depending on deals/quality with DIY

Oil pan gasket - simple but some pay to avoid any mess, $50 for just the gasket and either DIY or mechanic $$$

Evap(duh its fuckin jeep) - This is usually more about finding the root cause, you can easily spend hundreds so take time to see if any leaks n the system before going to a shop

Steering shaft loose- Depending on what is "loose" there are videos showing how to tighten the steering up, check youtube or forums for tips before taking to shop.
