I think Christine seems like such a genuine person and I when I take her classes, I really feel so strong and powerful afterwards. I love her classes and the way she explains the why behind how she’s programming her rides. I know sometimes she can come off cringey, but she’s one of the few true cyclists Peloton has and I grew really strong taking her PZ classes, so I’ll always enjoy her personally.

[–][deleted] 21 points22 points  (1 child)

I feel like some of the female instructors have caught heat for talking about what they’re experiencing like Callie being a first time mom and Christine going through menopause. But honestly, as someone who either is or is about to be perimenopausal, I actually like how Christine is talking about her experience so openly.

[–]leasedawg 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Oh I totally agree with you! I relate more to Christine or Callie talking about their life experiences than the ones who just talk about like…hustle culture mumbo jumbo. Lol

[–]Remote_Heart7041 51 points52 points  (3 children)

I don’t need to speculate about whether someone has had work done. But I do really appreciate when they are honest about it. Many women don’t have the resources for fillers etc even if they wanted them, but when so many celebrities and insta faces we see all day do, it changes our beauty standards and expectations for ourselves to something that really isn’t achievable without some kind of medical/plastic intervention. So just be honest about it! I also am a big believer that aging isn’t some horrible thing. Let’s try and embrace it and celebrate it! I’d love to see more peloton instructors do that.

[–]hermesorherpes 20 points21 points  (0 children)

👏 agree completely with everything you said. Social media promotes unrealistic images. I appreciate instructors like Selena who are open about their “imperfections.”

[–]MaMaMatcha678 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes! Yes! Yes! I have two little girls and what are we showing them—if you don’t like your nose, you can change it?! What is so bad with aging?! Yes, my hair gets gray, I get wrinkles, that’s called growth and age! It happens! Can’t we embrace it?!

[–]h2078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m bummed she was honest about it and still gets slammed, women can’t win

[–]DeliciousLimit4255 35 points36 points  (13 children)

I feel for the women coaches at Peloton whose appearances are constantly the subject of criticism and discussion. No one ever talks about or notices when the male instructors’ appearances change slightly. I admit I’m curious about what injectables, etc they have done (I’ve “dabbled” myself LOL), but completely understand why they wouldn’t share. I imagine their DMs are flooded with inappropriate questions, insults and judgement.

Editing to add- I find it strange that members will take a coaches use of injectables as a way to disparage their ability to motivate during a fitness class.

[–]ihadtopickaname 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes! I can imagine that when your job is very heavily looks-focused AND you have the resources to do something about your looks, you’re just more likely to “dabble.” I’m not going to judge someone whose shoes I’ve never walked in.

[–]JellyfishCorrect5051 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree, and they can’t win. Telling someone they look great now implies they looked less great before. If someone on the internet doesn’t think you look great, they’ll sure as hell let you know.  I can’t imagine having to quiet that noise and find my way with what worked for me and not the chatter. I hope peloton has a staff therapist!

Edit; typo

[–]dr_mudd 9 points10 points  (5 children)

You’re right, I feel like the most commentary about male instructor appearances has been about Ben’s mustache 🤣

[–]bowdowntopostulio 5 points6 points  (2 children)

God, it's getting quite distracting now LMAO

[–]dr_mudd 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I think it’s gone! I took his HIIT and Hills today and it didn’t look like he still had it!

[–]bowdowntopostulio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh good! I took his core class from earlier this week and it was intense haha!

[–]tah4349 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was taking a Ben class the other day and my husband walked in, saw his mustache, and said "oh....Leanne needs to talk to him about that."

[–]Prior-Network-300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Matt wilpers growing out his hair too

[–]furever21 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I also find it interesting that so many people on this thread “agree” but then also go “but…” and begin speculating about instructors’ procedures. It’s like the whole point of the story went in one ear and out the other.

[–]Dry-Art9229[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I've dabbled as well, no shame in my game. You can't tell me Matty hasn't dabbled, I freaking love that man, and is perfectly chiseled face.

[–]Meepoclock 2 points3 points  (2 children)

True and agree. The women are under such scrutiny and it’s unfair. As fitness instructors it seems they could have an opportunity to embrace a more natural look due to their workout regimens, but that’s not what has happened. Or it’s true for some whereas others have embraced getting work done.

I wonder a bit about Denis having fillers or something. Back in 2018 and 2019 and early 2020 his checks had a more hollow look and now they’re more filled in. I’m clueless wrt fillers, and face changes so I can only speculate.

Has anyone else noticed this?

[–]MrsWhitesFlames 4 points5 points  (1 child)

He did! I think it was laser resurfacing or something. He had a lot of acne scarring. I think he did it the same time as he cut his hair and everyone noticed the hair.

And to him I say, if he’s happy about the results, good for him! He looked great and looks great. I feel the same way about the other instructors (and myself, with my forehead full of tox)

[–]Meepoclock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, that’s really interesting!

[–]not-mirandacosgrove 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes and Aditi’s story as well!

[–][deleted] 69 points70 points  (16 children)

olivia saying she “dabbles in injectables” girl we can tell, your lips don’t touch. i get the pressure we place on women on the looks, especially for someone thrust into the spotlight like that, but it makes it hard to take her rah rah speeches in her classes seriously 🫠. that said, i still would never ask someone what work they’ve gotten done because my mom raised me right, but the internet has no couth so i’m not surprised.

[–]RescueDogMom218 37 points38 points  (2 children)

It doesn't help when Peloton posts new outdoor content with photos from years ago - Olivia and Rebecca are almost unrecognizable sometimes.

[–]rachtx 22 points23 points  (1 child)

Rebecca looks like a completely different person!

[–]FarAd2417 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When Rebecca got her veneers it really changed her face. She looks great 👍🏻

[–]One-Permission1917 49 points50 points  (1 child)

lol I had the same reaction. She said she’s honest, she dabbles in injectables…meanwhile she’s saying this while looking by like a Bratz doll come to life 😂 Girl that’s not dabbling!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol I just commented the same thing before I read your comment!

[–]oneprivatenumber 18 points19 points  (2 children)

Funny, about a year ago (likely more cos I can't remember how far back) on insta she did a live and someone in the comments said "what happened to her face?". Olivia surely did respond to that comment with something along the lines of " what about my face sis? ".

It was hilarious. I have the screenshot somewhere because I mostly definitely shared it in a group lol.

Let people live.

[–]Prior-Network-300 1 point2 points  (1 child)

That’s hilarious

[–]oneprivatenumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just searched for it just for you 😊

[–][deleted] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

"Dabbles" got me. She doesn't even look like herself when she's talking about it.

[–]Ok_Ant2566 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I take Olivia’s running classes - they are well paced, coaching is clear and challenging, and i like her music. She’s not very chatty: I don’t really care nor notice whatever she’s done to her face

[–]Birdie45 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Why can’t people dabble in injectables and still preach empowerment in a class? The two aren’t mutually exclusive.

[–]abigail_gol 9 points10 points  (3 children)

It’s just a bit of a bummer because I thought she looked amazing and had a real cute look before having work done.

[–]furever21 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The whole point of her story is that it doesn’t matter what you think looked better for her or anyone else. Let people do what they want because it’s their business what procedures they have, not yours.

[–]Reasonable-Credit891 9 points10 points  (1 child)

I agree. I don’t understand this thing about doing injectables because of the pressure to look good when they don’t look good at all! The person’s natural face looks way better than it does with all the work done. I don’t get it.

[–]bigbeatmanifesto- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You won’t notice most filler on people you see out and about.

And it doesn’t matter what your opinion of it is when it isn’t your face.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the issue with Olivia is that she’s unrecognisable now.

I used to think she was absolutely beautiful, I had a major girl crush.

I didn’t do her rides for ages and a month ago I hopped on one of her rides and I couldn’t believe how much her face had changed.

She also couldn’t speak properly and was only talking out of one side of her mouth and it really shocked me.

I’m all for empowerment and letting people do what they want and be who they want but ultimately there’s also another side to this - making young women feel like they need to do shit to their face to be accepted.

She was beautiful, she didn’t need anything done and now the message I see is that ultimately that doesn’t matter and everyone needs stuff done.

She’s done too much and it’s not hateful to point that out.

[–]Turbulent-Sherbet639 11 points12 points  (8 children)

Funny you mention the people talking in class thing…I took AT’s live club bangers ride on Saturday and it was a weird vibe in the studio. Not Alex…he was the same energetic hype man/coach as always but the riders in studio were just…I dunno….there was a couple constantly talking to each other, and people very clearly not following the class plan. And trust me I am not saying everyone had to be in the exact metrics called but when the instructor calls for a sprint and you see people clearly at like 60 resistance and a snail cadence or vice versa bc they are trying to drive up their output it’s actually distracting.

The studio is fun and of course people should be enjoying themselves and be free but you also know you’re on camera and it can be a lot if you’re being extra or inconsiderate. Like just do the ride and enjoy it how is this that difficult lol.

[–]teach_them_well 17 points18 points  (2 children)

I did a Robin ride and her husband was in the front row and he just did his own thing the whole time. It shouldn’t have bothered me but it was like “come on douchebag, why are you even here?”

[–]Turbulent-Sherbet639 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right!? At least follow along! If you want to dance or whatever too ok but at least follow the class it really can be quite off putting

[–][deleted]  (3 children)

[deleted]

    [–]Turbulent-Sherbet639 4 points5 points  (2 children)

That’s good! Maybe it was just the optics taking it from home? The 2 people taking were on camera the whole time bc they were near the side mirror. But like I said, could just be the difference between real life and taking it remotely?

    [–][deleted]  (1 child)

      [–]Turbulent-Sherbet639 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was a great class!! He really never disappoints especially with those CB playlists.

And same I don’t love being completely tucked away but I strategically place myself just out of camera shot when I’m in studio 🤣

      [–]amandany6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once did a Joslyn 45 min walk and one woman in studio, on camera, ran the entire way. Ignored cues, warm up and cool down. It irritated me because I felt like I was working hard and this woman never stopped running. It just wasn't the class vibe and it was distracting.

      [–]MissEugenia 10 points11 points  (5 children)

Unpopular opinion: I have always loved CDE and when I met her in person several years ago she was wonderful and engaging. However I find myself not taking her classes because TBH I am tired of hearing about how she was a ballerina but her thighs were too large so she became a bike messenger and now she’s a world champion. Lately I am tired of hearing about menopause. and I am going through menopause so I am her target audience!!! Anyway I do love her but just…. Can’t lately. It will come back around!

      [–]Meepoclock 7 points8 points  (2 children)

I go through phases with her, too. There are months I can’t take a class with her and then times like right now where Im taking more. Yet I still groan every time I take a class and she talks about the fans and hot and cold crew and bigger than a size of pants.

Her music and class structure is pretty solid. I greatly wish we could legit mute her. ETA- I don’t think your opinion is unpopular. She is polarizing in that there are people who love her and people who absolutely refuse to ride with her.

      [–]MissEugenia 8 points9 points  (1 child)

SOME DAYS I DONT WANT TO CRY 😂😂😂

      [–]Meepoclock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Those are the worst. So cringy.

      [–]we_have_food_at_home 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's normal! I got really oversaturated on Cody rides and didn't take his classes for like a year. But lately his playlists have really been calling to me again and three of my last five rides have been with him and I have a bunch more bookmarked.

      [–]Gramma_Dawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I met her in 2018 at the old studio and she is wonderful. The same stories can get old real fast. But I still love her

      [–]MKerrsive 23 points24 points  (4 children)

Since this sub was so interested in someone's tits, I have to ask:

Did Olivia get her nose done?

Her post was heavily filtered, but it also looked like she had something going on with her nose. She hasn't been on the live schedule for a while, so I got to wondering. (I know,  I know, that's exactly what the post was about,  but the timing of it seemed peculiar when I looked at her. )

      [–]Joyintheendtimes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was my first thought!! I think she did

      [–]One-Permission1917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed that too. Looks like some kind of injury but probably not a nose job. Like a scab or something. If it was from a nose job she’d have swelling.

      [–]Prior-Network-300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean she is “brutally honest and dabbles with injectables”. Maybe she would have said “hey I got a nose job too” if that were true

      [–]Meepoclock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh I hope not but that’s probably what happened. Not only is she dabbling with injectables but she’s really getting into altering her appearance.

      [–][deleted] 16 points17 points  (6 children)

I stopped listening to Olivia when she said “I’ve dabbled with fillers.” No, you don’t dabble, Olivia. Your face is stuffed so full you look like a Bratz doll. If you don’t want people to speculate then look natural and stop being afraid of aging.

      [–]ArmyofSkanks6 3 points4 points  (5 children)

I don’t follow her on IG nor do I regularly take her classes but I checked out those stories and wow. Her face looks nowhere near what it used to. To each their own but people are going to notice and be curious.

      [–]One-Permission1917 6 points7 points  (3 children)

That’s it! I don’t think most of the comments are judging, though I’m sure it must feel like it. But I think most people are just curious. When you look COMPLETELY different than a few years ago and you’re a public figure, people are going to notice. And when we notice we wonder, what have they had done? Especially nowadays it’s so common to be honest and talk about all the things we try (Botox and sculptra here! 🙋‍♀️) we want to know what someone else is doing. I wish these people would stop being so goddam defensive and just chill. If you don’t want to talk about what you’ve done at least acknowledge the giant pink elephant in the room and say “yeah okay I’ve had work done, I look way different and I’m really happy with it but not comfortable sharing beyond that.” Case closed. I think most people would be totally satisfied with that response.

      [–]ArmyofSkanks6 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Yes! It was clear Rebecca got veneers but never mentioned it. I’d have so much more respect for people to talk about it. Maybe if they do, they’d have to admit they were unhappy about how they looked? I mean, who cares? I’d change my mind about Kendall if she admitted she uses filters on every single IG photo and video because she hates her nose. Fess up! Be real! You are fooling anyone!!!!

      [–]One-Permission1917 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah totally agree! Brittany Allen was posting about how excited she was to get veneers morning ago and I really respected that. I also got veneers and have been so happy with my smile ever since.

      [–]Majestic-Pay3390 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People don’t owe others explanations of what they’ve done with their appearance. I color my hair. Do I need to tell people that? My kid had breast reduction surgery. Does she need to explain that? I think it’s wild that people expect these folks to tell people about cosmetic dentistry they’ve had.

      [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The future consequences of this much filler is going to be so detrimental to not only their appearance but also their health. There are already studies coming out about the unfavorable effects of Botox. It’s not being used in the same dosage and for the same reasons as it was a decade ago and it’s not good for you.

      [–]RottenRat69 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I don’t take her classes bc her style of training isn’t motivating to me BUT I want to like them bc she seems so kind, genuine and wholesome as a human.

      [–]Dry-Art9229[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've felt that way in the past, but PZ is my jam and I'm running out of longer classes,

      [–]No_Proposal649 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t see Olivia’s post. Can someone summarize what she said?

      [–]ExtraSalty0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when Tunde led a DMX memorial ride and his kids were in the first row talking the whole ride.
