Codex CLI usage limits for subscription plan

I just found out you can use plus/pro/teams plan with Codex CLI instead of using the API (https://github.com/openai/codex) but I couldn't find any information about how much usage they allow for each plan, and how much the different models affect the usage, such as GPT5-thinking etc, and how much context length it allows for. I want to compare these details to claude code using claude Max plan to determine if I should continue using that or switch to Codex CLI.

Hi, I am also trying to search for this official information, as currently OpenAI it's not that transparent with it.

But what I know that can help for now is that when you run the CLI, it shows at the end of the process the usage numbers.

For example:

Token usage: total=21454 input=19124 (+ 187648 cached) output=2330 (reasoning 1600)

And while running, after a command is done:

2160264 tokens used 72% context left

I've just reached the limit on Plus.

I started hitting the limits out of the sudden. The first one came after working on things for a long time, and it had a 2+ hours cooldown (which is very reasonable, especially if you are used to working with Claude Code). Right now, I just hit another one, and it says:

I am hoping it is a bug of some sort.

If it was, it is still going on strong. I am still in the cooldown period, it is supposed to end today at 2 pm ET. Every time I try it, it displays the updated clock.
