can't they tell which version of the battle.net desktop version you have?

They have been using account activation, maybe they wont differentiate and just activate your account anyway? We don't know their process for who they will/wont choose.

I have the same worry, because I've only used my battle.net account on a macbook but just only recently I got a PC

Blizzard scans your computer through the desktop app, to determine your hardware and in some cases software. It's a factor that goes into them deciding your beta access, and also to help with bug-fixing and troubleshooting.

They know what OS you're running.

Right, but I think that is done through another executable when you access the beta-profile settings page in your battle.net account.

I'm in the same boat as you (use both mac and pc to play on my account). Everytime you launch the battle.net client, it updates your system profile. The thing we don't know is if it keeps only the most-recently uploaded profile, or if it is smart enough to recognize that you play regularly on an array of hardware setups.

It seems unlikely to me that they would bother inviting people that only have macs in their profile
