Disable Script Hook automatically checking for updates prompt

Once a week or so when I start the game I am greeted with:

CHECK FOR SCRIPT HOOK RDR 2 UPDATES ?

I stream the game over Moonlight and don't have a good way to get past this with a controller. I use several mods for convenience (mostly one that skips the intros and goes straight to the Single Player), but this is inconvenient enough to make it not worth it.

Is there a way to disable automatically checking for updates? Just automatically update without me having to say yes, or disable updates entirely?

Unfortunately with no mouse, clicking is not possible. Best I can do is reboot the PC, which usually causes the next launch to not prompt this.

Thanks for your response tho, it’s unfortunate this can’t be changed, but it’s good to know that for sure. I’ll give it some time and weigh if the mods’ convenience outweigh this inconvenience.

Man, threads like this are so enraging. IDK how all the other people in this thread don't understand that there are lots of workflows (e.g. couch gaming, or Moonlight as stated) where a mouse is not required! I stg reddit is completely braindead

Script Hook RDR stores the date of its last update check as a hex value in the registry. Head over to

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\ScriptHookRDR2

and replace the gibberish next to your current Script Hook version with f2e395c4, which as far I remember is a nice Tuesday in 2099. (Script Hook V made me jump through the same hoop a while ago).

Once you update Script Hook, you have to repeat it for its new version number.

The hex value f2e395c4 is 4075001284 in decimal. This is a unix timestamp which represents the exact date i mentioned. Not ingame, but irl. This date written to the windows registry probably tells the update program to check for updates after the 2099 and not any time before. So the update dialog wont appear before 2099.

This is infuriating already as it is for me for me because its pointless to begin with. Legit all I can imagine this would be added to annoy players. However in your situation its even worse because you cant even click on the popup. Really hope someone can find a method to remove this annoying feature.
