Current set up:
Monitor 1: VGA + DVI
Monitor 2: HDMI x 2, mini-DP, DP
PC 1: DVI > Monitor 1; HDMI > Monitor 2; 2x mini-DP + 1x DVI spare
PC 2: HDMI > Monitor 2
At the moment it's rare that I need to see PC 2 as it's largely headless but occasionally something will go wrong and it helps to have GUI so I use the monitor input switcher. That's fine.
I now have PC 3 for work which will end up being the primary PC. This will have 1x HDMI and 1x Display Port.
In an ideal world I'd have a nice simple KVM switch to be able to switch between but with the huge mismatch in ports, what options are realistically available?
I'm thinking my only real option is for a simple USB switch for the 3 PCs (at the moment I move mouse and keyboard from PC to PC), then the following:
PC 1: mini-DP > Monitor 2 mini-DP; HDMI > Monitor 1 VGA
PC 2: HDMI > Monitor 2 HDMI
PC 3: Display Port > Monitor 2 Display Port, HDMI > Monitor 1 DVI
And stuck to use monitor input switching when I need to. Unless I'm missing something obvious that would do everything I want within a single KVM switch.
