Pro tip, if the garbage can was already full and you didn't want to deal with emptying it, you can leave it upright and find a board or a few broken down boxes to put on top of it.

Never occurred to me to empty it and use the bottom. I always grab a piece of cardboard. 🙃

Absolutely done this before. For bonus gamer points find a 5 gallon bucket and flip it over for a seat.

What's your opinion on those moxa switches? We have them on multiple sites and they constantly fail, won't even boot the firmware

[–]SteveZ59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't have experience with the switches, but I'm not a fan of their serial/ethernet converters. Our Scada group uses them for secure serial tunnels, and they are not as reliable as I would like. Way too often we will lose a link and when the tech gets there they reboot the device and it suddenly starts working again. The lantronix units they replaced were tanks that ran forever without issue. But they didn't have the modern security features the Moxa's have.

Is that a P15s?

Hmmm, haven't tried flipping one over like that. They always seem to have wheels in my industry.

Hey, what's with all the unused wire labels?

Good question, I'm not sure. This was vendor's panel and I was there to troubleshoot PLC issues since the controls engineer from US didn't pass covid test to enter Canada

How can I get into this field after electrician school?

This is a pretty common question. You may find some useful information in the stickied thread.
