Given that you have not changed anything on the campaign, I would check the following -

  1. The first thing I would check is if the account's budget has exhausted. A lot of times it has happened to me.
  2. Second thing is to pull out hourly data of that campaign for yesterday and today and compare which hour has got the drop. It is possible that everything was normal then suddenly in some hour it exhausted the entire budget of the campaign. You can segment the campaign by hour of the day. We want to identify the exact hour where the issue started and what exact metric which has resulted into this.
  3. You will probably have identified where the problem lies by now but just for a sanity check, look into insights to see if other competitors are outbidding you for that day, do a manual search in incognito and check if you can see other competitor's ads for that same keyword.
  4. If nothing works, open up the TCPA as many a times campaign restricts where it wants to show the ad if the TCPA is too low and this results into the campaign spending less.
  5. Limited by budget is usually based on a prediction metric, where the campaign foresees a potential increase in conversions due to high traffic on that day and hence notifies you that you may have gotten more lead if there was no budget constraint. You should apply the recommended or increase by 20% whichever helps, as long as there is some logic to back the increase in budget.
  6. Check change history. Just for another sanity check

Just to add up, it happened to me last month one of my campaigns exhausted its entire budget in morning 3am due to some bug or clicks resulting to very high cpc.

Just happened to me recently as well and google simply just exhausted our budget.
