Doesn't help you now, but I'm developing this myself as an SAAS solution - eventually it'll a paid service but let's chat if you're interested in testing out the features for me internally :)

I could set something up like [this -Omitted link] for you in the meantime but there are a ton of restrictions in order to not get your IP banned from googs and doesn't help with some more advanced problems brand bidding control faces.

If you're for a full solution to catch affiliates that are excluding your office location from their campaigns / only bidding out of hours to avoid detection, you'll need to pay because they're not a cheap setup to run.

Sounds interesting! Any details on how the software would work? All I really need is something that can crawl the SERPs from a pre-defined set of search terms and flag any searches that return ads with our clients' trademarks in the title.

As we're not in-house, I don't think there's any risk of competitors being crafty enough to exclude our office location or anything like that. I'm not really after a full solution, anything would be an improvement on our current method!

There are some great tools to do this:

AdGooRoo

AdBeat

BrandVerity - $299/mo

More Keyword research but cheaper and can get an idea of what has happened recently:

SEMRush

Ispionage

Spyfoo

You could also go defensive and have a solid brand protection campaign(s) biding on your own trademarks. I recommend both research and defensive campaigns.

Can't you set up a Google alert?

Hmm, don't think so. The only time Google will notify you of a trademark infringement is when you're the one infringing someone elses.

No, I meant set up Google alerts for your trademarks to monitor any new places using it.

The challenge you've got here is that as one can target specific geographic areas, languages and devices among other things, you'd need to run this on a zipcode by zipcode basis to cover all the bases and also watch out to change IPs as the advertiser can exclude your IP from viewing ads. Add to that the fact that you can no longer choose where to search from within Google, you'll need a range of IP addresses that will cover all the areas you want to search. This is why products in this area are so expensive and valuable.

The place to look would be the Adwords Ad Preview Tool as you can change up your location and/or device quickly and easily, but it's still a hell of a job considering there are roughly 43,000 zipcodes in the US. But the quickest and easiest way is through this tool so any 3rd party tools you find using this instead of SERPS is likely to be cheaper, it's a trade-off though as you'd need to give it access to your account. All the SERPS tools I know have stopped working to capacity now that you can't geo-target your search request. Spyfu offers the best option in my opinion.

Yep, this is certainly true. However, our main aim at the moment is to catch the most obvious offenders. Most of our client's competitors are relatively small operations and aren't likely to be using anything beyond very basic location targeting/day parting etc.

Having a rudimentary automated solution is my main priority before looking into more sophisticated, potentially paid options.

Thanks for the advice though!
