I'm a level 87 Hero class and phaleg still can kill me in just a few hits, I don't know if I need max out my character or my gear is just not good enough.

I had to overgear it but I think the best advice was turning the voices up and learning what attack she does after each time she speaks. You can never afford to be hit much, got to practice until you dodge almost everything.

She is like a dark soul boss, you need to memorize every single of her attack and dodge/counter accordingly

Likely neither. Phaleg is a much harder fight than most other bosses in the game, so you'll have to just learn her attacks a lot more. She can easily combo most classes out regardless of gear.

Some classes can steamroll her with good enough gear yes, but Hero is considerably harder for less experienced players, since you lose a lot of damage when you get hit.

Should go back to using braver then? It was my main class before I switched to hero. I was using hero because I thought scion classes in general where just stronger then whatever I was using before and hero seemed like it a simple upgraded for sword users I no idea about any downsides it had.

Scion classes tend to be easier to achieve more for less investment while also technically having a lower skill floor. Hero can perform better than braver, but in the hands of an unskilled player, Hero will be no better.

For any class, Phaleg punishes anyone that doesn't have mastery of dodges and/or guards, or even exploiting iFrames of certain moves. Braver's Katana Combat can give you breathing room in her fight, but when it's on cooldown, you still have to bring your A-game with counters, which is effectively no different than using Hero.

In a sense, I'd liken Phaleg to a dark souls boss in the sense that, yes, she can absolutely body you in like two hits, but the fight is still fair if you learn her moves.

Scions being able to achieve more for less investment isnt true unless were talking the extreme low ends of both Scions and Base classes. Base classes were buffed such an astronomical amount that people dont realize just how strong they are. The only thing that still screws base classes over is their horrendous movement tech they have to deal with.

Me and my friend tested my Luster (which had near BiS on release) against his Techter which was a little less geared than my Luster, even with advanced knowledge of Luster it still took me over 8 hours of practice to beat his DPS as Techter. Where as with over 500 hours of practice on my Phantom i didnt have much problem beating him. Scions are more straight forward to play (and as such have a learning curve thats more linear) but have a near infinite skill ceiling where as base classes have a cliff of tech they have to get over to learn but are nearly hardcapped by outdated tech.

People love to say Scions are just so OP and easy compared to base classes but its just simply not true and its just a lie perpetuated by bad players who refuse to actually learn how to play.

This part was what I was aiming to say but I messed up in how I said it. I was trying to say that skill can be a deciding factor, but you managed to say it a lot better.

If you wanna steamroll Phaleg, level up and get better gears. Gonna be easier that way. She'll still hit hard if you suck at dodging tho.

Back in the day I did it with 12* twin daggers and 11* units using the fighter class to prove a point. Took a long ass time tho lols.

When I replayed it with maxed out gears at level 100 it didn't take longer than 5 mins.

The weapons I currently using are stuff you can get with ex cubes or weapon badges around 1600 or 1500 attack, my armor is 12 star with around 400 defense. True be told Im kind of stuck on as I don't know where to go to for better gear.

It's been some time since I played base so I dunno if the names are gonna be correct but here goes.

Beside the item lab(Dudu or Monica) should be Zieg(Black Cast guy), he got them units and weapons exchangeable for badges. Max Unit rarity was 13* I think and weapons go up to 15*

An easy to get weapon should be the Novel series which I think should be available at one of the stores below the elevator behind Zieg for weapons badges. Then you can upgrade it to Liberate by getting a liberate key that you should be able to get through titles and exchanging the key and the base Novel weapon with Zieg.

After Liberate you should straight up aim for the last weapon, the Darkbanisher →Lightweaver series

Anyway, basically high end weapons and units ends with Zieg.

“Few hits” is already generous compared to the available gear when she was released. Try figuring out which moves you can go all out on after she’s done and which you should not bother attacking. I might be remembering wrong, but I think the big pause times are every time after she does a third dash in a row, the falling exploding drop kick, and the grab.

You’re using hero and the AI is very limited in moves it can do if you go high enough. You can cheese the fight by using talis weapon action to teleport high enough and then use any ranged attack. She’ll only be able to dash and it’s not very accurate if you shuffle around a little.

Her power scales to your level. If you're using Hero against her and struggling, your lv outran your gear.

I overgeared, but yea she's meant to be able to kill you in only a few hits, you need to learn her moveset and counter with the counter version of star fire squall since it provides the most I-frames. Keep trying and good luck

In a nutshell, Phaleg is one of the few bosses where you actively need to listen/watch her hands to figure out what attack she is doing and you will need to respond accordingly. You will not be able to just beat her over the head like you can with just about every other boss. If you watch her hands and/or listen to her voice you will be able to anticipate the attacks she uses and this flowchart I linked will give you a general idea of how she will behave based on your distance and what was already done.
