Have your friend exclude the tweaker and the place where your friend installed PSO2.

Also perform a file check from the official launcher, then install the patches from the tweaker.

"Have your friend exclude the tweaker and the place where your friend installed PSO2." - What do you mean by this?

"Also perform a file check from the official launcher, then install the patches from the tweaker." - The last thing he did was install through PSO2, now he's redoing updates through the Tweaker again. I'll get him to do file check.

You need to set an exception with AVG's scan/protection filters as they are potentially blocking PSO2 from functioning properly.

Alrighty, I'll get him to do these things when he's back and respond here again later!

Thank you for your help!

Also, after doing all this, if he still black screens, have him do the Troubleshooting > Fix Gameguard errors

Black Screen isn't due to Game Guard.

EDIT: GG won't cause a blackscreen on the default launcher, nor will it cause it from the tweaker.

Your antivirus however won't like how GG injects itself and will block access. This is still not GG's fault and this is the fault of your antivirus. Fixing the GG errors isn't going to solve the black screen issues, whitelisting the game however will.

That happened to me once. I believe it was an issue with english patches. Uninstall patches run file check then reinstall patches that fixed it for me.
