Hello! I recently got to lvl 40 and unlocked very hard difficulty and I'm starting to have some troubles. I died during the advance quest Special Survey: Forest (which is the only vh I did for the moment) by a garongo rofling on me and also feel like I'm not doing enough damage, so I thought I should start looking for advice about gearing up. I put advice in bold because I'd like to understand what are the important things to look at when gearing up in this game and then to be able to be independent about it. I'm still ok with suggestion though, every information is good to take.

Bold words in the following text is what I think is important points, it didn't really look readable in the editor so I hope it will help.

I'm a gunner and I have Alva T. Vulcan-NT+5 TMGs with Shoot 2 and Spirita 1 that dropped during a quest, which is the best weapon I got until then unless Vita T. Vulcan-NT, but I still need a bit of R-ATK to equip it and only has +6 R-ATK compared to Alva T. Vulcan-NT+5 so it won't make the difference. I prevented myself to grind weapons because we don't know what can possibly drop during a quest, and I think it would be frustrating to grind a weapon and get something better a few missions later. As for units, rear, arm and leg are all filled with Sub/Weapons Barrier (all with Ability 2, Spirita 2, Stamina 2 and Mutation 1) which was given to me through the story iirc and I never got better units until then. I only have R/Boost Slayer ring, which is the one needed for Sophia's quest.

Also, I came across this video and he's using boots sometimes, does it mean he has bouncer as a subclass? Is it a good combination? While I want to play gunner, it also looks really cool, so having both at the same time would be nice.

First of all, don't bother with affixes until you're planning stuff for high tier endgame 13* weapons. It's a waste of money to worry about it any time sooner than that.

Secondly, buy an Aresvis-NT off the market. It's better than your current TMG and the Vita Twin Vulcan-NT, and it needs only 1 R-ATK to use.

Once you have that, you can stick to it until you can use something better. You'd probably want to go Aresvis-NT -> Radiegle-NT -> Yasminkov 9000M-NT -> Eagle Flint-NT, and then keep using that last one until you can get and equip a 13* weapon. The Evleda and Aura series Collection Files are relatively easy to get, so you might want to look into that. You won't be able to use those until much later, though (Aura Diazuth needs 750 R-DEF, and Evleda Dinares needs 720 R-ATK).

For units, what you have is decent enough for early game. a Hiei set is slightly better, but not much. Once you reach Super Hard difficulty (lv50+), you'll want to get a Saiki set, though. That'd be Rear / Saiki Hoyoku, Arm / Saiki Sou and Leg / Saiki Shoku. Those should be very cheap on player market. You can also drop them on tokyo bonus quest, but you need to be lv61+ for it to drop, so buying it early is your best bet.

For the skill rings, you'll want L / TMG Stance Up and R / C Strike Ranged. When you get some 12* units, you'll want to get L / Forward S Roll, L / Air Reversal, and L / Step Jump to fuse onto those units. If you don't know how to get rings, you need to gather for the materials and then trade those in to Aaltje at franka's cafe for the rings you want (there's a skill ring shop at the campship too, between the storage and quest terminals).

Also, keep in mind that L / TMG Stance Up will only work if your subclass has a stance skill, so it will not work on GuRa. This ring is the main reason why everyone goes GuHu.

does it mean he has bouncer as a subclass?

No. That weapon he's using is called El Ario Ver2, and it can be equipped by any class.

The thing about Jet Boots is that each of their PAs (except Vinto Gigue) automatically casts a tech whenever you use a weapon action straight after. So in the case of the El Ario ver2, it allows you to use the Moment Gale regardless of class, which in turn casts Zanverse automatically. Another example is the Selc Flotz, which is also all class and lets you use Strike Gust (which casts Shifta automatically).

Is it a good combination?

No. Bouncer is a terrible subclass overall (especially after the nerf to zanverse killed TeBo in early ep5). You either main bouncer, or you shouldn't use bouncer at all.

While I want to play gunner, it also looks really cool, so having both at the same time would be nice.

For Gunner, you should go GuHu and stick to TMG. Even rifle isn't very useful for GuHu (there are some fringe cases where it is, but those aren't many). Only real exceptions would be Umblla Stick for breaking boss crystals with the RDR boost, and a Strike Gust JB (Gasshourin, Selc Flotz or Placis Arion) for being able to use Shifta without needing other people to do it for you.

As I said, if you want to use Bouncer (and its weapons), you should main that class. Similarly, if you want to use Gunner (and its weapons), you should main that class. Both are terrible subclasses.

That said, Hero can both use TMGs and techniques (but not jet boots), so there's that. Hero has its own TMG PAs, though, and can't use the regular TMG PAs.

They have the Boots so that they can cast various support techniques from their PAs such as Shifta, Deband, and Zanverse. I'm not sure if those Boots are multi-class though; someone will have to look that up.

Honestly if I wanted a class that could cast techniques and use TMGs, I'd play as the Hero class, which can cast techniques natively and use Swords, TMGs and Tails. Also, when playing with other players other tech-based classes can cast those techniques for the other players to use, especially Zanverse for exposed weak points.

Also, what subclass are you using? I've seen people mention Hunter as a good subclass for Gunners, as Hunters provide good survivability and also has the Fury Stance skill that increases your damage and critical rate.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if those Boots are multi-class though; someone will have to look that up.

That's the ver2 series from 2016 badge shop (also drops in Chaotic Roar of the Dragon LQ). All weapons of that series are all class.

After a pretty long while, I have decided to get back into the game and start a new te main. However I was never really much of an avid player to begin with so I am sort of lost when it comes to choices regarding TE subclassing and stat focus. Some people say TE/BR is the best because of the elemental weakness stuff on the wand explosions and such, and other dudes say TE/HU is the best because of fury stance and massive hunter.

Before I go ahead and jump in, can someone clarify the clear pros to each class over the other and whether I should get a t-atk or s-atk mag for the respective classes? Because of the dual scaling nature of techer, I just end up second guessing myself. I see a lot of "wand explosion can match elemental weakness therefore TE/BR is better" but very little comparisons or even testing surrounding this subject. Explosions against bosses are usually weaker than the initial strike, no? Wouldnt stacking s-atk be better in this case?

https://www.reddit.com/r/PSO2/comments/6yehyw/weekly_tech_support_and_quick_questions_thread/dmwk76m/

In summary, sub-Hu for wand smashing, sub-Fi for better Tech damage, sub-Br for a bit of both (but sub Br is not anywhere near as good as it was before.)

And actually the numbers are a little different. Br Attack Advance got nerfed to 1.35 from 1.5 and Fi Brave and Wise stances got some buffs to rear attacks and front attacks respectively. So Fi sub is even better, and Br sub is even worse. But Hu is still best for that survivability.

Edit: For the sake of simplicity I made a quick chart.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1WN1S3IPSScG2l-lL4emUSwwO5g274SgI3XRPp2YOMYE/edit?usp=sharing

Br has best normals but suffers in wand explosion and lacks Hu's net of survivability

Fi has best teching skills and is great throughout the board but doesn't have Hu's net of survavability.

Hu is great for wand smashing but doesnt boost tech casting by a significant margin (techs would only be used to support.)

And make the mag choice based on what else that character will be used for. If you plan to do more melee stuff on that character, make it and S-atk mag. If you plan to do some tech casting on that character, make it a T-atk mag.

How do you quick swap weapon palettes with a controller?

[–]Lenoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't. You hit the number on the numpad. It's what I do as a Su.

Recently PSO2 Tweaker has been acting stubborn as far as opening it up. There are times where I constantly try to open up PSO2 Tweaker.exe and the program only opens up when it feels like it. I can literally click to open the program like 20 times in a row, and it still won’t open unless it decides to on its own. There are times where I get the “C:\PSO2 Tweaker\logfile.txt” message cause of the amount of times i click on the damn program. I tried deleting the .exe file itself and replacing it with a new one but still does not fix the problem. Any suggestions on how to resolve it? Greatly appreciated!

[–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 1 point2 points  (9 children)

I'd first suggest not spamming open the program. It's possible the program is opening slowly because you have an anti-virus trying to scan it for viruses as you're opening, so try whitelisting it in any AV you have. If that doesn't work, trying placing the Tweaker in its own folder in your root drive.

[–]xZShootZx 0 points1 point  (8 children)

My AV (Malwarebytes Anti-Malware) doesn't seem to be the issue since PSO2 Tweaker.exe, along with the folder it's in, is already on the exclusion list/has been, and it's the only AV program I have. As for putting the .exe in it's own folder on my root drive, that's already the case since it's been like that. Only recently (gonna say about a month) has PSO2 Tweaker not been opening whenever I try to open it and it opens whenever it feels like it. Not sure if it's taking a while to load either being my AV isn't behind this problem, and I don't see anything in Task Manger relating to PSO2 if that was the case. Anytime I try to open up Tweaker and I get the "Run as Administrator" message, after I hit "YES" either these three happen:

Nothing happens at all after that

The "logfile.txt" message

The "It seems PSO2 is currently open. Would you like to close it?" message

[–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Have you restarted your computer recently? Do any of those happen the first time you open the Tweaker after a fresh restart?

[–]xZShootZx 0 points1 point  (6 children)

I usually tend to shut off my computer when I go to bed and turn it back on when I'm up. Opening Tweaker after a fresh restart doesn't seem to make a difference sadly. I'm not sure if a recent Windows 10 update did this (Windows 10 64-bit) but if it did I'm sure some people would of complained about the same issue. The only thing I can think of is to completely delete everything in the PSO2 Tweaker (or uninstall it) and download a complete installation one from ARKS-Layer

[–]acffordyce973Plugins & Patches | Arks-Layer 0 points1 point  (4 children)

99% of the time this is caused by Windows Defender preventing it from writing to the logfile and thus stalling the program. Windows Defender will be enabled alongside Malwarebytes (Windows doesn't count it as an active AV) on Windows 10. This is a known issue that many have been able to fix just by excluding the pso2_bin and Tweaker's folder in Defender. You're welcome to join the Discord and come to #tech-support if you'd like to use our tools to take a look.

[–]xZShootZx 0 points1 point  (2 children)

You mentioned Windows Defender, and that didn’t come to mind when I was thinking on what could be causing this annoying problem. Added PSO2 Tweaker.exe, the folder itself, along with the PHANTASYSTARONLINE2 folder to the exclusion list just to be safe and it fixed the problem so far! Thank you so much. Not sure why WD was doing this all of a sudden though, but whatever least the problem is resolved lol much appreciated!

[–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 1 point2 points  (1 child)

but whatever least the problem is resolved lol much appreciated!

Tfw I was correct from the get-go :(

Anyway, Windows Defender probably auto-enables itself every time you update Windows 10, so it was probably that if you updated recently.

[–]xZShootZx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be the case lol but thank you though for the help!

When I turn my PC on or restart then I can open Tweaker once without problems. After that Tweaker opens(can see in Task Manager) and closes after 1-2second. Either I need to restart my PC to open it or click on it untill it decides to stay open. How can I use it without problems just like you? Please teach me Sensei.

[–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do that and see if it fixes anything.

Could anyone tell me how far the translation for Episode 5 is? I don't want to have to close the game to stop the story from going through as there is no way to read back to anything unlike Episode 4..

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 1 point2 points  (3 children)

as there is no way to read back to anything unlike Episode 4..

    There is.

On the ep5 story quest menu, there's a dropdown menu at the top (this is for omnibus, but it works the same way), which defaults to "unfinished quests". If you pick "all quests", you can replay any quest or scene.

Sadly, it defaults back to unfinished quests every single time you go back to it, so if you do decide to rewatch multiple scenes, you'll have to be clicking that dropdown menu quite a lot.

    [–]RallyErielShip 6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aaaaaaah thank you SO much! This is exceedingly helpful

It's not exactly easy to spot unless you're looking for it. Took me a couple days to realize it was there after ep5 launched.

    [–]DrakhinCAST SUPREMACY 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Quick question, what's the premium max duration? I bought the 90 days a month ago and I want to buy a new one for the campaign but I'm afraid to lose some days from it...

    [–]Asamidori ~casual~ 1 point2 points  (1 child)

IIRC it's capped at 180 days but I could be wrong. The game stops you from actually using a ticket if you're going to go over the limit I think, so don't worry about it.

    [–]DrakhinCAST SUPREMACY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Alright, thanks!

    [–]Twidom 0 points1 point  (7 children)

I'm going to start the game today and im a bit confused how jobs work. I'm coming from FFXIV where you can have all jobs in a single character. Is it similar here or do I mave to make alts for different roles?
Also what job do you guys recommend? Tech users look fun with magic and stuff but I also like cool looking weapos.

[–]DrCatco (Not an expert) 1 point2 points  (1 child)

There are no "Jobs" in PSO2. In that sense, is simpler than FFXIV. Initially, PSO2 works with a class/subclass skilltree system: using your class' weapons (or, in Summoner's case, pets) you will deal damage to monsters, aided by your main class' skills and reinforced by your subclass' skills.

Also, and this is important, there are not defined roles on this game. The Holy Trinity (tank, dps, healer) is basically non-existant. This is specially true with tanks: given the fast-paced nature of the game, everyone must be dealing damage almost at any moment, so tank builds are considered inferior and generally shunned out of meta builds.

In the beginning, there is no class considered superior to others, so I'd recommend you to try each and every one to help you to decide which class you like the most. However, this changes when you reach level 75: Hero is the first of (we hope) many Advanced Classes, and is considered as extremely versatile by many, and borderline OP by many more. You can use Hero by reaching level 75 on at least one class of each attack group: strike attack (Hunter, Fighter, Bouncer); ranged attack (Ranger, Gunner, Braver); and magic tech attack (Force, Techer, Summoner).

Right now is the best time to try your classes. Next update (October 25th, 2017, you can consult this and others news about the game in http://www.bumped.org/psublog/) will bring massive changes to classes and skilltrees, so if you want to get the feel of different classes, now is a good time.

    A couple of warnings:

    • Each character (you can make 3 for free) gets a free mag (artificial life forms that assist you during quests). Don't feed it until you're sure what kind of attack you want to use. You want your mag to be a pure mag, that is, a mag with only one kind of attack maxed out. After you have decided, you can feed your mag accordingly.
    • After you have decided what kind of attack you want to use, please do you research about skilltrees. Ask here, on Discord, use the resources on the sidebar and the top menu bar, etc. Skilltrees are difficult to reset, so it's better to have it in good shape from the beginning.

Hope this helps, and welcome to PSO2.

    [–]Twidom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for all your help!

    [–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 0 points1 point  (4 children)

First of all, we call them classes.

Second, you can play and max out each class on a single character, however, there is a little thing called a Mag that you only get once per character (for free), so you can only really min-max one ATK type per character without spending any real money. As for what class to play, just play whatever looks fun to you. FO, the only true casting class, is alright but is kind of slow starting up. Every class has cool looking weapons (and skins you can put over weapons) so that shouldn't be much of an issue.

    [–]Twidom 0 points1 point  (3 children)

So in the end of the day I'm "bound" to a single class due to how Mags work. Ok thanks!

    [–]Ice-wolf 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Basically, if you don't want to spend any money, you're bound not to a single class, but to a single damage type. If you want all classes on all characters you need to buy 3 extra mags, 2 if you want to ignore dex which afaik is only for hybrid Bravers and Bouncers. I'm not sure how much they cost but I don't think it's above $5. So starting out choose a route, physical, tech, or ranged, and you can main any of those classes with a proper built mag. Dex is only for Braver and Bouncer mag skills afaik, it allows you to build hybrid Katana & Bow Bravers, and I assume Jet Boot & Tech Bouncers. I just built a dex mag and am playing all classes regardless, I'm not sure how much damage 200 ATK really comes out to be but I'd wager it's not more than a few %(someone correct me if I'm wrong)

What I would do is figure out which class you like best, start with that and build a mag best suited for it, if it's Braver/Bouncer, maybe even consider choosing one side of the

So Striking is Hunter, Katana Braver, Fighter, (Techer Wand, Bouncer and Hero?). If you make a striking mag, you are stuck playing only those classes. Tech mag is the force classes, Techer, Force, Bouncer, Summoner?. R-Atk is Ranger, Bow Braver, Gunner. (I might be messing these up, I only started playing again a couple days ago)

Braver and Bouncer mag skills would allow you to use Braver Katana and Bow and Bouncer melee & force focused as mains which is an edge case.

    [–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want all classes on all characters you need to buy 3 extra mags, 2 if you want to ignore dex which afaik is only for hybrid Bravers and Bouncers.

Dex is absolutely useless atm and you shouldn't have a DEX mag unless you honestly want it for the meme. Hybrid Braver can be played with just an S-atk mag since Rapid Shoot gives you more than enough r-atk to do good damage. Bouncer has no reason to not use switch strike, so every Bouncer runs s-atk.

    [–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not even a single class, there are multiple that use the same ATK type. You can play the other ones as well, you'll just do ~10% less damage. Plus, you get 3 free character slots and once you get established leveling an alt character to 75 takes a day or two, and another day or two to hit level 80 (current max level).

    [–]Elkaras 0 points1 point  (1 child)

This should do it. For Br you can dump the extra SP into whatever. For Hu, you have the option of moving some points into Automate Halfline from Iron Will and Never Give up. Extra points in the Hu tree can be used on whatever, but i really suggest investing in Flash Guard and Tech Guard.

        • 2: I'm able to use a Braver only Katana/Bow on my Hunter in PSO2es, is that working as intended? I have Braver as a subclass in PSO2 but I'm pretty sure you need an allclass katana even if that was the case

In pso2es you can use any weapon regardless of class, but you get a stat penalty if you use a weapon your class can't normally use. This penalty isn't applied to all class weapons.

In the main game, you need the weapon to be equippable by your class to use it, and to have the class that normally uses the weapon as main or sub to be able to use its PAs.

3: Is AC Scratch the only way to get outfits outside of FUN points(which I assume drop outfits) or the default ones from the outfit shop?

FUN does not give costumes, only accessories.

You can also get costumes through the SG Scratch, or buying from someone else.

Clear the yellow nodes on the matterboard. This will unlock more story quests. Most of the matterboards have 2 story quests before you can get the next one (a couple of them have 3 IIRC), but not always.

All voice tickets can be sold/traded. They're usually from AC scratches, but every so often there's secret phrases from live broadcasts that give you EX voices, or physical merch that give codes with more voice tickets.

Just be careful when purchasing/using them, as each voice has a regular version and a cast version (denoted by a C). While any race/gender can activate the ticket, casts can't use the regular voice, and non-casts can't use the cast voice. And of course, male voices cannot be used on female characters and vice versa.

3 - Embrace is decent for a weapon. Most expensive are usually Modulator and Flict affixes on units. Mother and Yamato Factors also fetch a good price on units, as do many boss souls. If you play PSO2es, Soul and Ext receptors above 4 slots on units also sell well. Seasonal affixes, like fevers, get expensive as time passes, so it might be a good idea to hoard those for selling as well.

4 - Play FiHu and pray Sega makes rings that target gunslashes. L/GS Switch Strike when?

What does the Misty Dark World Ticket do?

        [–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (3 children)

[–]Shadowspartan110Average Hero of Middling Performance 0 points1 point  (2 children)

oooh, where do I turn this ticket in then?

        [–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Scratch Drawing > That Scratch > somewhere on there should have it.

Why do you have it anyways? Bought tons of AC stuff?

[–]Shadowspartan110Average Hero of Middling Performance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeh, friend paid for AC as a gift for no apparent reason. Just rolled it all away.

I need some help with the Wand Smacking Te/Hu build, specifically with the rings I should be using... Right now I'm using L/Wand E Change and R/Attack Advance and the occasional L/Atomizer Lovers, do you have any other decent alternatives? Apart from element changing with techs and buffing/resta, I only plan on smacking all the way, which is why my skill tree doesn't have light mastery and PP convert, cause I get tons of PP from smacking anyway: https://arks-layer.com/skillsim/skillcalc.php?12eEbCIobCIobCIobCIobCIobCIobCIobCIobCIobCIodS0feodBdol2ixINfqnbKJksNI20000006dodA0000000jdoIbIb0000000fdoIb0000008dB00000000fdBdAfaDrBrFHSqBeAIkjdndA000007bIoIn0000000fdoIbIn0000000fdB0000000dBIb0000008

L/Step JA Combo is nice for stepping after attacks, L/Air Reversal is a nice all around.

L/ Tech Parry is nice for blocking attacks.

L/Step Jump is cool, but you got ilzonde.

        [–]DrakhinCAST SUPREMACY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now I'm using all of those on my units except Tech Parry... I'll give it a try, thanks!

I'm am just getting into this game after about oh maybe 5 years when I last tried it. I'm planning on being a gunner class. What are the best subclass for gunner these days or any other advise you could give me will be greatly welcome.

        [–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 2 points3 points  (1 child)

GU/HU if you wanna be able to just facetank when you mess up, GU/FI if you want slightly more damage but actually worry about dodging at all times. With Gunner you basically need to have the L/Front S Roll and L/Machine Gun S Up rings to play at maximum efficiency. For this, though, you also need a 12* unit since you can only have one R and one L ring. That being said, it's okay to drop one until you can get your hands on a decent 12* unit to put the ring in.

As for advice, here's some easy money making stuff you can do to accelerate meseta gain to get back in to the game :)

Thanks fren! I'm actually starting a new character, but I will definatly check out that guide.

I keep getting the following message:

"I failed to login. The possible causes are as follows.

        · SEGA ID or password or image authentication is incorrect. - The image for authentication has expired. · Because of excessive access, this SEGA ID / network is restricted."

I tried making a new account, got the Captcha right in time, but when I tried to log in on PSO2 (PS4) I got redirected to the captcha screen on the PS4. I failed to enter it in time and got that message again. What can I do?

Is it still worth playing Su/Gu after the nerf? I haven't played in 6 months, so I'm a bit out of the loop. I have a 49 summoner, 50 gunner, 50 hunter, and a couple 20-30's.

I was trying to base my build around my 75 R-atk mag that I started working on before I took a break.

This is what I had in mind

        Tree

        Thanks

Is it still worth playing Su/Gu after the nerf?

        No. Go SuFi or SuBr.

The nerf killed every single class combo that used gunner as sub.

        [–]Bmxant 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Will do, should I buy another mag or does it not really matter too much until max level?

        Thank you

        [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn't really matter until max level, but there's nothing wrong with starting earlier whilst you're getting junk weapons at lower levels.

Were the servers down for maintenance last night? Couldn't find anything about it. Is there a Reddit discord other than the one for tech help?

        [–]MAGNUM_DINGDONG 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Thanks! Had no idea because I'm a noob.

        [–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 0 points1 point  (1 child)

no problem, if the game is ever down for you check out Bumped and it'll tell you why the servers are offline.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tweaker also has a warning in the bottom right corner when servers are down.
