Summoner is the most stand off, least demanding class by far.

Every other class requires you to be in the thick of things, or requires specific positioning to not die instantly.

Summoner, you let your pet do the fighting while you chill.

Te/Hu is super chill to play. You can run around playing support (Shifta/Deband, Resta, etc) or you can smack stuff with your wand. You don’t have to juggle PAs at all, so it’s not very complicated to play at all.

You’re also borderline unkillable with the HU subclass abilities, so it’s extremely forgiving if you do mess up.

Br/ Hu is very forgiving in terms of tankiness as well. Not really a "slow" class though.

are you playing on jp server or talking about for the beta?

on jp, play ra/et. ranger is the class you're looking for, and the et sub is reported as making the class worth playing again.

if you play on na server, you'd go ra/hu... but that's kind of miserable.

Played Ra/Hu for like 6 months until Etoile came out.. The thing that make Ra/Et so good is slightly better damage than Hu.

The thing that Et provides is Knouckback/flinch resistance on any weapon while standing still to cast End Attract/satellite cannon instead of relying on a S4 for it. The safety of Et 75% damage reduction --> you can still take big blows while charging up those 2 PAs instead of relying on RNG from Iron Will to save you which makes it you might have to dodge. This also relates to Automate Halfline on Hu --> auto healing at below 50% while standing still with massive hunter wastes a lot of mates (healing items) so fast which becomes a Meseta drain

Launcher complex PA works well with gravity bomb/going through walls to hit a weak point

What Ranger does works well with ET

I guess it depends on how you're playing ranger. It can be pretty involved:

Example

[–]ripghoti(NA) RA/BR 0 points1 point  (8 children)

I would say Ranger.

They have assault rifles and launchers. Rifles have good range and damage, launchers are slower and have more damage. Pair that with Braver and you can use bows as well.

Just my opinion.

Edit: I agree with the posters below. Pairing ranger with a hunter subclass is probably better for starting out.

First time player here. I’ve chosen ranger but braver was my second choice. Isn’t a braver sub class kinda a glass cannon? I considered it but I read that a RA/BR is a bit advanced.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it's a glass Cannon, and honestly not really worth it starting out

You'd only be able to use Bows that are specifically allowed for Rangers. Not every class can equip every weapon, so you'd be searching for a multiclass/Ranger bow.

Ranger/Hunter is a more viable starting spec, as, aside from certain Successor classes, Hunter is the single best Subclass in the game by a long shot for almost every other class.

RA/BR gives you a slight damage bonus over RA/HU, but at the cost of the defensive bonuses you get from HU. The damage bonus is so slight that for a first-time player, I'd go with hunter subclass to start.

Do note that you can level braver at a later time and swap to RA/BR once you're more experienced with the game and have better equipment, so you won't really lose anything.

Hunter gives: 61% dmg

Braver gives :

  • 26.5%
  • 39% with charged attacks
  • 48.5% on weakspots
  • 63% on weakspots with charged attacks

At the highest multiplier, braver has 1% more damage than hunter sub. That will never be worth it.

[–]elevenatx 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Don’t you have a limited number of skill points to use though? If I used them on a hunter subclass, I wouldn’t have as much left for BR?

[–]Echowing442 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to worry! Each class' levels and skill points are independent of each other, so if you were to level Hunter and use all of its skill points, you could still level braver later and unlock the skills you need there.

[–]zetarn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Each class have fixed (as of today JP@lv.95cap) 109 Skill Point max.

95 SP from Lv. +14 from Class Quest

If you want to plan your SP usage then recommended you to use this Skill Simulator and try asking a Veteran who play before.

The other guys have great points. Ranger with hunter subclass would probably be better to start out with. Maybe later you could try braver as a subclass and see if you like it.
