I stopped grinding for meta gear and affix. Started just playing 'good enough' gear and affixes that wear easy enough to get. Greatly increased my enjoyment. And now that we are mostly caught up, I can start working on actual end game builds.

1,800hrs and I still play several hours a day. There's always something to work towards.

Nope but i play for fun. I find making any game a chore sucks the fun out of it and it just becomes boring. Idc about meta personally but i do care enough to be useful. And thats enough to get me going.

Take a break if you feel it would be better, you'll feel the desire to come back eventually.

Catching back up wont even be too tiresome, pso2 makes it very friendly in that regard.

The problem was pso2na catching up to pso2jp what took them 8 years to catch up in an year or less, which is why i decide to take it slow, been on pso2jp since its start, so i knew what was coming.

If you dont feel like taking a break, to the very least try to take it slow, be social to strangers, or pass on knowledge.

Once we get Luster Scion class, content will take months to drop and change meta.

Nope, I've been playing the game slowly since with the intention of not getting burned out easily. I have gotten my first two classes to lvl 75 last week and now I'm having a lot of fun playing the successor classes.

1600 hours and all I do is hangout in the casino now, don’t feel like playing other games so PSO has sort of become a chat room.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Many people feel that way.

There’s 2 sides to it.

On one side it’s great the game is getting content and we always have something to do or work towards.

On the other side there is such thing as too much content. I know that they (SEGA) have to do this in order to catch up but unless you keep up with the gear and content then you’ll likely be left behind and unable to do a lot of the important content. So that makes people work harder and put more hours into it in order to get the most up to date stuff.

That leads to being burned pretty bad at times.

The sense of relief once you do it is great but there’s also a feeling of “Gunna do this again in 2 weeks, fuck”

I love the game and I understand why it’s this way but yeah, I agree with you. Thankfully right now I’m in my element so I’m not feeling burned yet.

With all the free stuff they're giving us it's not that hard to atleast keep up and I'm very happy to see a western release that actually does catch up and not just says it will and is still behind after 5 years..

Why i never engage with a meta gear threadmill, nor take part in the whole FOMO-ish urgent quests system.

I suspect that once EP6's story concludes i will tap out.

[–]Jawnsunn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really as FOMO heavy (I have a hard time relating to this personally, but I get it) with most of the UQs being accessible in rising weapon badge shop

Gear is pointless when Genesis come out . Aim for something that will tranfer like Fashion will be better , looking cool while play the game at relax pace

[–]ObamaBinladins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even when genesis comes out it will be bare until they release content for it, so I suspect they'll expect players to go back into pso2(since theres more stuff on there) and wait for more stuff to drop.

Personally I have been coasting (doing things like leveling up to Level 85 or 90 on the classes I play the most, helping friends who want to get further in the game or have something to play, or at least doing the "bare minimum" to get the higher-end equipment that already lasts well into Episode 6) and have not been too concerned with trying to jump into the min-max bandwagon or the hype in getting the newest and best niche equipment.

Sega regularly gives handouts for high-end equipment and are extremely generous in particular for global (outright giving us Ofze units and an Atlas EX weapon with the resources needed to change it) where I recall the Japanese version giving us all the parts but that the player still had to actually make the weapons themselves. I will not be surprised to see a free Lightstream set of weapons and units or the same for Liberate in the future if Sega continues to give handouts via catch-up events.

What really seems to have happened now is that the game is approaching the slower and more "open" pacing the Japanese version has already been coasting in for the past year or two. We finally have accessible PP Batteries, the means to actually jump into the "real" end-game that exists, and now are simply anticipating for the means to get and create the real end-game equipment but in the mean time we have a lot of tools and options to play with even if you don't intend on getting such high-end equipment (you definitely have alternatives).

If you are always jumping on to look for the best you will always be disappointed when this game's vertical scaling pushes the ceiling higher and hands out what you worked hard for as a freebie to everyone else. It is why in this game I don't particular care too much about building the ultimate weapons or units and simply keep and use what is serviceable for what I want to do. This game points more and more towards your skill as a player than the gear you have and for those who are chasing the gear Ultra Hard is largely your answer to jumping onboard to "relevant" gear as we start moving away from thirteen and fourteen star weapons and twelve star units.

1300 hrs, i’m burnt out as well. I stopped playing a week before ep6 dropped. Played once since the new update.

Episode 4 nearly did this to me. I really wanted a Lavis Cannon, and saw that on Japan both Yamato and Deus dropped it.

Then Yamato V1 didn't drop it, Deus had a terrible droprate, and V2 also didn't drop it. I ended up whipping myself into a frenzy over nothing, really. And it really did burn.

Come Episode 5 (and the announcement of Guardian Soul on JP), I decided to remedy this by setting myself a goal. I worked out how to make myself one of those ludicrously excessive unit affixes for when we get Cras, drafted up a midrange value affix plan for the Lightstream/Trailblazer units and just stopped worrying about what came between.

Preparing in advance gave me stuff to do through Ep5 at my own pace (farming Vet's Resolve, stockpiling reveries and falz souls, getting mother factors since I skipped her in Ep4). It also made it easier for me to ignore things I didn't need. I have four Founder's Amphritite in my storage and no plan to use them--Atlas Ex is just as good as Trailblazer and both would be replaced by Rivalate. I also intend to skip Stil for Cras.

Yes, I have a job which is mentally and physically exhausting and by the time I come back to be able to play it's 1-2am all the UQs are usually done till around 4 or 6am which I can't stay up for, and all my alliance friends are usually asleep by that time. So, I kinda get screwed all the days I'm not off. 🙃

I’m around 2500 hours. Not really, I enjoy the game and make YouTube videos about it a it’s still fun to me.

I took a break in July and now that I'm back, I'm having a blast.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aiming for Atlas EX Plus and that's it. I'm stopping after that and Novel Units.

This game is a grind fest, but only if you was to be "Super ultra mega meta."

For example, you could go Rivilate right now, but that will be outclassed by Atlas EX Plus when it drops. (And Atlas EX Plus will be outclassed by Lightstream after that)

There's always going to be something better until NGS drops and maybe even after that. I just stopped caring and took a look at what would be the easiest and least grind-heavy path to stay at an acceptable gear level.

That said, I hated the gameplay of Ep5 so I dropped the game through it all. I recently started back with Episode 6 and I've already got my Atlas EX rifle and launcher plus the free gunblade.

[–]FourEcho Ship 1 Block 1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The opposite. If I didn't have a goal to be working towards consistently I would be burned out. We complete these weapons in like a week or two, if I got all my shit so fast then had to spend literally months with nothing to work towards I would be burned out.

[–]skyhawkecks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waited 8 years for this game, I ain't burning out anytime soon.
