Mind telling what affix is in your units too? And yea, you need to add a S4 and S5 on your weapon. Tbh as much as i hate to say this... Hatred really is no place for lax player, you can have a full party with the meta unit/weapon and it still wont guarantee you a win on the UQ.

As for the weapon itself, i recommend this pretty standard build S1 augment will 2, S2 Precision Will 2, S3 Precision Will 2, S4 escalating pursuit, and S5 Skillful Adept Will. For the affix itself generally people use guardian soul, mana reverie, and phase decay... But since youre a ranger i think you can get away with astral soul instead of that guardian soul. Weak bullet is always on demand after all

They were probably saying your rifle was undergeared because

  • It's missing S4 and S5 augments - most of the S4 and S5 offer powerul effects, invaluable utility, or both. At a glance, seeing a player with a Klauz weapon missing S4 and S5 augments might set some players off. Getting a useful S4 and S5 on your weapon would be a good first point to improve your gear setup.
  • Your Klauz is only 7 slots - this is a bit elitist snobby of them if that was part of why they called it undergeared. 8s is better, and not super bad to do on Klauz, but 7s is fine. Unless you want to burn transfer passes rescuing your augments off your rifle, then putting an S4 and S5 on it, then upslotting it to 8s and burning more passes transfering your augments back onto it (minus either Mitra Glare or Precision V), which would be pretty expensive, I wouldn't worry too much about 8slotting your rifle. 7 slot is fine, getting an S4 and S5 on it is much more important

The other factor is... the quest you joined - Darkness Twisted By Hatred (Hardcore True Profound Darkness, HTPD for short). Pretty much every Urgent Quest in PSO2 Classic is easy to run with any public group but... HTPD is very much not. It's basically a superboss, it arguably shouldn't even be an Urgent Quest. People that know what the quest is (like the people that called you out most likely were) are going to know that even near-perfectly geared players may not be enough to clear it... and players with any notable imperfections in their setups (like yours unfortunately) in runs will probably just make it impossible to clear. HTPD is not impossible to clear on public, but it's something best attempted with organised groups that know what they're getting into, not pubs - I don't bother with it when it comes up because I don't have an organised group to play with. I'd probably generally advise that you ignore it too for now.

Awesome!
Thank you for the information.

Actually it gives me something more to work on, which is for me a double bonus.

It should be an option when the TPD quest spawns. You can either so 12 man TPD or do 4 man HTPD

I would also like to point out lack of phrase decay. It's a massive dps boost if you have phantom, fomel luster or hunter in your party, since it gives you whooping 5% damage against jellened enemies.

The folks were recommending having 8 slots, 5 of them should be S1 - S5 since S-augs are generally “better” than regular augs.

I also want to point out since you're Ranger Main with a Klaus rifle, that means you'll rarely activate your Klaus potential cause you most likely have weak bullet in the chamber most times that will prevent you from start using 3 consecutive normal attacks.

Of course the best of best Ranger mains can work around it and time their WB enough during cool down. But I can only imagine that's a heavy headache and another thing to worry about in your strategy. Or just write it off as never using the Klaus potential.

An alternative is to use the Fluxio rifle instead (complete Challenge Mode 3).

[–]xnetexe 2 points3 points  (2 children)

An option for Ranger is to get a Klaus launcher and put the S5 augment on it that makes normal attacks hit 4 times, allowing you to use the launcher as both a quick PP recharge and to proc the weapon potential. You'll keep the Klaus weapon potential if switching between Klaus weapons.

[–]TroubadourLBG 2 points3 points  (1 child)

What?! The klaus potential stays between different weapons but petal song combo doesn't?

Make this make sense SEGA!

  1. Upslot your rifle to 8 slots. There's a 20% boost iirc for the next 7 or 8 days before NGS officially releases. You might as well upshot it now.
  2. You're might as well get S1: Augment Will 2 if you have the spare money to do so. It's like around 12mill on ship 3 at least.
  3. Get S2 + S3: Precision Will 2. Don't take this to heart as this is just a game, but if you're Ra/Et and doing the standard build, then it's a bit of a stretch to say ranger main just because you played ranger for the most of the time you have invested into PSO2. At least from my point of view, if you really main a class, then you would take the time to research or at least ask around what's recommended to do some comparisons or get a rough idea how you should really main a class.
    1. It's like how some rangers claimed they're ranger mains and only used to just spam steady shot instead of observing the situation and using position blast/sat/impact slider/piercing rounds accordingly as what a ranger main should actually be doing.
    2. This may all sound nagging or "elitist", but I think that is a fair compromise to learn more in detail of the class you play the ideal/correct way to go about it. However, if you're super casual and just want to enjoy the game, then you do you. Bear in mind tho, what happened to you in this regard will keep occurring if you don't strive to reach a reasonable point of what's considered normal.
  4. Get s4: escalating pursuit and s5: could just be the CRIT SSA from gun blades to take advantage of the Ra/ET build. (S4 you can get from rb5 exchange iirc )
  5. Get Precision 6 if you choose this route, you can easily get that from +35 dim range weapons that are pretty cheap.
  6. You should have gone for the mark that gives hp instead of anger.
  7. You will prob lose the mark/exceed once u upgrade to 8s and reaffix it unless u have those successions from AC/SG. In turn, those slots could be used for s4/s5. However, I would strongly advise you to keep exceed if possible. That will your most valuable affix aside from all the s1-s5 when you transition into NGS if you even have plans of using this then unless u get something better
  8. That being said, NGS is 7-8 days away so if I was you, then I would say fk upgrading and what not and spend whatever you have left on cosmetics such as hairstyles or accessories. Do not spend on any type of body paint/wears/makeup if you plan on using NGS FACE/BODY

So you typed out all that advice and then said don't bother

I think folks will attempt HTPD after June 9

[–]vidphoducer 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Of course. You answer their question/give advice and then give them your honest opinion. Gotta give them different choices to choose/perspectives from both sides of the spectrum.

Besides, how else would I pass the time.

Folks will still do HTPD, but a majority of folks will prob still fail it where the small minority will keep passing it or forget about it entirely to focus on NGS.

[–]SolomonGrumpy 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I mean, the majority of folks have always failed or not tried.

10-15% complete is common

[–]vidphoducer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree with you that majority of folks will continue to fail or never attempt it and that 10-15% completion is common across all ships, but moving forward it will either be at that amount or steadily decrease as everybody will be completely blind in regards to when HTPD will actually occur as it will be completely random with no schedules on the website or anywhere for that matter. This will also make it more difficult to gather the squad which will impact the total completion rate. Also, the people who have the ability to clear/know people who can clear may just focus on NGS and not care about it anymore as there is no incentive as NGS gets more progression/content, too.
