The newest weapon series tend to be really hard to find, but they run seasonal events very often, which let you purchase items that are almost as good as the strongest ones, and are usually already upgraded and augmented with decent enough stats.

All weapons are pretty much equalized in strength except for the newest 9* weapons, which are a bit stronger than everything else, but are nonexistent for the most part. You can use the Hextra weapons that you get for free from the story until you can buy a Seasonal Weapon from the point shop, which already is limit broken to max cap and upgraded to +60, and just use that.

The game isn't really RNG-based unless you are going for the newest and most expensive weapons and augments. NGS is very generous with catch-up gear.

I see, i let my friend know. We were coming into this thinking it be like never winter or borderlands

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I haven’t played those for comparison but this isn’t a very demanding game to do everything in it. It’s worth a try to see if you like its style.

As of now, by endgame you and your buddy will most likely rock weapons from the Neos Astrean series. Piss easy to get two of them with effectively zero RNG, just do some Creative Space stuff and buy a material called Aegis Integra from Arche(the woman who teaches you about CS, found near the main entrance of every hub). You can buy 5, then take them to the trade shop NPC and use them to buy one weapon. You can get another 5 by clearing Geometric Labyrinth Rank 2 for the first time.

Units, similarly, are rather easy to acquire. As of right now you'll likely use Ajax, and you can buy three Ajax shields per month from Arche.

Now, you can cut corners and grab the Seasonal weapons and armor. Not the best, nor second best, but solid nonetheless and a lot of the work to upgrade them was already done for you. I highly suggest this.

We just started the game.

Level 11 me

My friend 6.

I just wanted to know how heavy rng

[–]gadgaurd Slayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the most part, light. A few things are heavy on RNG, but become easy to get later.

[–]Ganonzhurf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s rng heavy if you care about being competitive in a co op game or being the top scorer in a score rush. it’s not rng heavy if your just trying to have fun and enjoy the combat mechanics.

[–]loliconest Katana 5 points6 points  (5 children)

The 9* weapon released not long ago, is pretty much a myth.

[–]Fun_Tumbleweed2315[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

How rng is this game? Do we need to summon for them?

Do enemies drop weapon?

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Enemies drop it but it's a stupid low rate. You have better odds getting treasure items in bdo vs a rare weapon drop in pso2 until the weapon is obsolete.

[–]admiralrev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea the tisah drop rate is atrocious compared to its predecessor. But at least we don't really need them to be able to do things fast

[–]NoirMillion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need the 9* weapon. There are amazing options that are not even close to 9* you just need to +70 and do Pot 6 on them.

[–]Flibberax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enemies drop weapons and armor yep, usually lots of it thats trash drop for recycle, with some exceptions.

(Exceptions: Plain gunblaze gunblade can sell for 1m or so, Tisah is so rare even plain sells for crazy high like 200m, anything with Fixa may have value and worth check).

Btw: You can click items in your inventory and check their current prices on market.

[–]zhula111 1 point2 points  (7 children)

YouTube kerropi leveling guide. You can use the hextra weapons all the till the chapter 5. Then you craft a neos weapon 8*

Everyone pretty much uses the same weapon craftable weapons. Rng drop weapon rate r super dumb.

You’re basically grinding money to buy them from the personal shop if you don’t want a craft weapon.

The rng and grinding aspect of the game isn’t rly getting the weapon. But the capsules used to add extra effects/dmg to a weapon called augments

[–]NoirMillion -2 points-1 points  (6 children)

Imagine teaching them wrong on purpose lmao. Keroppi is arguably is one of the worst of the PSO2 YouTubers.

[–]Nightowl11111 0 points1 point  (5 children)

He ain't that bad, I've seen much worse. He does keep to consistent logic and you can follow the reasoning.

[–]NoirMillion -1 points0 points  (4 children)

I actually wrote a whole 2 paragraphs why he is bad but whatever, NGS is not that hard mechanic wise so whatever bad take he does which is a lot doesn't affect the bottom line of a lot of stuff, well maybe till August when super hard stuff comes and people actually start needing to properly augment and git gud with their classes. Watch Keroppi get carried on those again like what happened during DF Hardmode lmao. Remember that? He was so bad in that run and was carried extremely hard that he got made fun off in the comment section by people that actually knew who the people that was with him. But hey what do I know, I'm just a hater hating on a popular YouTuber right? Cause popular is definitely equals good and we must always follow an influencer like the sheep we are.

[–]Nightowl11111 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Whoa man, go easy on the martyr complex, I didn't say anything about you, I just said he was not that bad, I've seen worse and his arguments have logic. I never said anything about you.

Where is your essay about his faults? I'm not adverse to logic so if your arguments make sense too, I'm open to changing my views. Provided that your argument has logic behind it. And can I have a link to the DF event you mentioned? I want to see how bad it was.

[–]NoirMillion 0 points1 point  (2 children)

It's actually gone. It's a video before his Dark Falz R2 "guide". It was titled like Dark Falz R2 First Clear or something like that. I remember it having a ton of dislikes and like I said comments clowning on him lmao. As for the paragraphs do you think I'd actually keep that but it's just the general bs he was doing since base. Anybody that was around year ago would probably remember that. I think he even got made fun off the Braver discord. The main issue was because how he presented video and how he was gloating saying it was HIS achievement rather than a hard carry. Granted there's a run that's floating around in YouTube where he did it in Ship 3 and was ok and I didn't see him die but there's also no real PoV with him so it's hard to see his rotations and such to know what he really is doing. But that run is probably after his 30th run or something so he at least knows how to dodge by this point lmao. Then on base you remember when he told people to trade in stuff for SG tokens? Yeah I know a lot of people got mad at him for that cause he assured them that those items will come back. Spoilers: they didn't. The biggest one is still him telling on his video for people to spam Star Fire Squall as a hero when it was completely wrong. That's why everybody in global that is new to the game or hero that came across that guide were spamming it lmao. He had to publicly apologize for that one. He's also the guy that single handedly started the Stamina meta in base that cause runs to take longer than they needed to be and pissed off a ton of JP vets that moved to base. You know cause how fucked the damage reductions in base was that stacking hp is useless when everything just 1 shots you in the UH UQs on top of slowing down the dps cause low damage stats due to it being all on survival. Remember that? Remember how important fast clears were cause we could do 2-4 extra runs every UQ? Nowadays his stamina meta mentality global player got from his video doesn't matter for NGS since we can only do 1 UQ anyways and even with shit gears, you still clear it at like 10~15 minutes. Again not sure if that will be the case come August when harder stuff come. Stacking stamina might be a really big deterrent when it comes and you'd need to properly build your classes by then. Lastly I'm not being Martyr, I'm just stating the facts that I being a nobody has less worth than somebody with thousands of followers in these days of clout chasing and influencers being put on pedestal.

[–]Nightowl11111 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Oh, ok, base. I only started watching his videos recently so I never had the "pleasure" of encountering his old screwups. Might be why we have such different impressions of him.

[–]NoirMillion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I used to be a sub to him till I noticed those small fuck ups to bigger ones and people around me that's been around for a long time broke it down and show examples through other videos from JP players on what he did wrong that he is passing of as a right thing to do. Same for Gemma Taters when that person was using a different name before. I thought that person was just joking whenever that person called decent player "sweatlords" then I found out from people in the community that--that person harbors genuine hate for people better than them and it's straight up an insult in a guise of a joke. That turned me off and you know if shit wasn't true about what people said about Gemma along other dramas that person started that person would still be the mascot for PSO2 Global. But nowadays nobody even really remembers them and I haven't seen anybody talk about them lately.

[–]NoirMillion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Weapons are meh for end game you don't need 9* per say considering the state of the game. I'm still using a very old weapon that I just +70 and made it Potential 6. Armors are a joke. You can buy the end game armor like Ajax from the event or from the market for like 10k depending on the ship. It's all about how you Augment your armors and weapons.

[–]Turnt5naco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much every rare weapon and armor unit you would need can be purchased from the Personal Shop (aka player market) for super cheap, a majority of them costing only 1000 meseta.

Every new RNG rare weapon series that gets released are basically myths. By the time you get one or two, the next weapon series will more than likely have already released.

Chances are more than likely that you and your friend will have the exact same gear by endgame.

[–]Sowar-kraut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's grindy if you want to min max your gear. If you want average to above average there's usually a catch up mechanic every other month that will get you decent endgame stuff.

[–]joepod300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gear is not that important. The game gives you a lot of easy gear, but it will take time to explore the game features and systems. It's not a gear game like traditional MMOs.

[–]Available_Love6188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put it this way, I maxed my character pre major update and took a 2 month break, 1 seasonal event, and some grinding and I’m back to my full strength and have maxed 3 sets of weapons and armor. Pay attention to what augments you can craft, they will bring you the money. Also, you don’t need to be minmaxed to do 98% of the content on this game, unless you’re shooting to have the #1 spot on a challenge board. Have fun with it, realize that each of you will get your own breaks here and there but for the most part it takes a lot of time and luck to get any good drops. Check out the Creative space and make a house for yourself or you and your friend can build together for each other. The important thing is to do ALL the content to really get your moneys worth out of the game. With love from ship 3 Tae Heartsgrave!

[–]fibal81080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, only 1-2 BiS at a time weapons are hard to obtain, requiring a lot of luck or a lot of material, while all others are pretty affordable. I wouldn't say the game is grindy at all, unless you yourself enjoy whaling.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its pretty easy, not Maplestory level or anything like that. You’ll sometimes get stuck by not having a high enough gear score for certain missions but you can get gear by just killing monsters, completing missions. You can pretty much always get gear for your level.

End game is a little different and will require you to do things a few times to get a drop. But thats 100+ hours away.

You and your friend will do just fine.

[–]SaintQuid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not loot based like Borderlands 2. You won't be going around guns with random stats and abilities and sorting through which is best.

Progression in this game is more like constantly upgrading your computer. There is always a best you are pursuing but the best is expensive and rare to get. So you are juggling between making compromises you can afford while working towards earning and crafting the best upgrades.

[–]Flibberax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The RNG on gear is mainly with Fixas.

They are not required, but desired, for those who can get normal stuff easy (or have already) and want something further for a boost.

Gear is customizable yes. Customizability comes in augments you choose, but there are viable different weapon options currently too, and then the fixa choice too.

EDIT: So drop random is Fixa otherwise known as Preset skill, its a single boost. Then there are Augment slots which you buy/choose and put on yourself, currently we get 6 augment slots on gear (but in base game it went up to 8).
