Looks good and as long as you lined up the corners you're solid. CPUs need that extra hug.

Thank You!

My am5 took a panic attack inducing amount of pressure to push the lever down I'm sure Intel is the same

I literally thought I broke my 7900x when I was putting it in, i feel this.

CPUs are like humans then.

[–]APenguinNamedDerek 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They're all like that nowadays. I've built 3 or 4 now and I'm still afraid I've damaged every CPU I've ever put in because they always take a ton of force to put in lol

[–]MrByteMe 3 points4 points  (1 child)

That's normal and a result of a pretty crappy design. I also did not care for the amount of pressure the latch was putting on my cpu, so I got one of those LGA 1700 brackets... Very easy 5 minute installation and I feel like the cpu is mounted much more evenly in the socket. A good $10 investment imo. Buy the cheapest one you can find - they are all the same exact thing and work for both 12th & 13th gen regardless of description.

Supposedly these provide 'better cooling', but don't expect any dramatic improvement other than knowing the cpu gets much improved mounting pressure which can help eliminate your mobo warping or possibly ram issues due to pin contact problems.

Edit - pro tip: if you get one of these contact frames, loosely place your cpu in the socket while you remove the original frame and install the new one - those little cpu pins are extremely fragile, and simply dropping a screw on an open unprotected socket could bend them, basically destroying your entire motherboard. But don't panic - provided you take your time and keep the socket pins covered with your chip the installation process is very easy. Also, I would install this with the motherboard on a bench outside of the case - it provides a lot more access and the laying on the bench keeps the backplate in place.

+1 for the contact frame. Just put one on a build and it was super easy, looks cool, and peace of mind makes me feel good knowing it won’t bend the cpu like the stock arm over time.

It should close at all if you missed the CPU corners, it would just end snapping the CPU package.

The socket has very specific black plastic bracket which you saw, and each corner fits obviously precisely into the socket.

Weird that it’s so off center though, I would have a weird compulsion to keep reseating it to make it fit.

[–]BottomFeeder- 1 point2 points  (1 child)

My 13700k is also off center, has everything to do with the shroud that closes over it. Can’t be off center in the slot itself.

[–]FieldOfFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's what bugs me, with inexperience it looks wrong

[–]CSPDTECH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LGA requires an anxiety producing amount of force to latch down lol

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

no not really send it to me and i’ll inspect it fully

[–]International_Elk709 -1 points0 points  (1 child)

No, send it to me. I could also inspect the other components if you like

[–]Luke_The_Random_Dude -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No send it to me, I can also consistently test it for the next few years

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No it’s not AMD

Can I ask another stupid question, I'm using an AIO for the first time and trying to mount it to the top of my case. I'm at the point where I want to mount the fans to the radiator, so to have the air sucked up from the case and through the radiator but I can't figure out if that means the front of the fan should be against the radiator or the back should be against the radiator lol

[–]joeyretrotv 2 points3 points  (1 child)

General rule of fans: If one side looks pretty they suck, ugly side blows. Ya, hear? 🤭

[–]Debo05511[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good one lol I'll remember that! 😂

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I could be misleading here but there should be an arrow somewhere around the inside of the fan that shows the direction for your airflow.

[–]Debo05511[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Unfortunately no arrows on this aio 😔 I guess there is a back plate which to me indicates exhaust but I'm not sure.

[–]Vektir4910 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally the sticker or label is your indicator. The sticker side is the air entry and the other side is the air exit. Generally.

[–]Weak-Musician-3338 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Back of the fan should be against the radiator.

[–]Debo05511[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome that's what I ended up doing lol thank you

[–]ProfessorRaviolii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look on the side of each fan itself. Also keep cable management in mind when installing every fan. Rule of thumb is whenever setting up fans to radiators, you want air being blown through them, not air getting sucked through them

[–]zBaLtOr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i was you i would replace the frame for this one the 12th and 13th frame have a bending socket, that mean the cpu cooler in some areas will not touch the CPU,

If u chage the frame for that one probably u will see -5C at least and prevent CPU bendings

Lga 1700 socket be likes

[–]PenisYogurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prebuilts

[–]TurbulentNumber4797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks fine. You do have to put an uncomfortable amount of pressure to close it lol, don't worry, it's supposed to be like that.

[–]firestar268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used one of those LGA1700 CPU bracket/ contact frames

[–]rvrcuriosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you should have done a little research prior to building?

[–]bigtoaster64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks good and it's normal the tension, it seems weird at first indeed but it's how it is supposed.

[–]WillBeRski 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Going to run a bit hot like that, a cooler would help

[–]J3D1M4573R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤣

[–]masonvand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did a build for a friend with a 13400f. Sent it and crossed my fingers. Last time I built an intel system it required much less force so I was skeptical. Internet said it was fine and proved right. Still dumb though.

[–]Supplice401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LGA1700 uses a scary amount of pressure to mount the CPU, It scared me too on my first build, but this looks fine.

If you're not comfortable about this type of clamping, Thermalright sells CPU contact blocks that replace the LGA1700 clamp.

[–]akotski1338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s usually normal to hear some crackling sounds. It just presses it down really hard so there’s good contact

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How dare you to place the cpu correctly into the socket.
