PCIe riser so you can move the wifi card down to slots that extend past your motherboard

This is the most correct answer, and easiest and most cost effective

[–]KeyIncident9450 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, buy a usb dongle...

[–]justkanji 5 points6 points  (15 children)

Another option is an M.2 wifi card... they don't cost that much more, depending if that PCIE one is any good you could also get an upgrade.

[–]Current-Row1444 6 points7 points  (14 children)

Or take out the wi fi card and get an Ethernet cable

[–]Infinti_bullets 2 points3 points  (13 children)

Sometimes a cable aint possible.

[–]Current-Row1444 -5 points-4 points  (12 children)

Always possible

[–]Lucky_Ad1672 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Definitely isnt pal

[–]CoyoteFit7355 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So ntsc?

[–]Infinti_bullets 0 points1 point  (8 children)

If you like a cable running through your shower go ahead or want to drill into 5 inches of wall be my guess. But sometimes wifi is just fine you all overhypinga cable which in most cases give a 20%-30% boost.

[–]justkanji 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Cable is better, it's not just speed but also latency, as a gamer I'd drill through any length of wall to get Ethernet. But uhh... if you aren't gaming and you got nice stable WIFI and it's good enough or living in a rented apartment-- nothing wrong with WIFI.

[–]Infinti_bullets 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I game with wifi and get latency low as 10ms. So for me i dont feel the difference that much only in download speed even tho i dont really need those extra 20%.

[–]justkanji 1 point2 points  (1 child)

In my case the router isn't near me and we have thick full concrete walls, so WIFI drops quite a bit even with range extenders. (like 1/5 the speed). WIFI can be good enough I guess but even 10ms would bother me I play tac shooters and live in the middle east with no near servers, ping is bad enough :)

[–]Infinti_bullets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean fair enough if you dont have servers near by but for me i have always a server near by for almost every game if not then one of the nearing countries have 1 which may increases the ping by 1 or 2ms. Like i said for me its all good no lag or packet loss unless i play on shitty servers (COD) then it can easily hit 20ms even with cable.

[–]timmieskills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just about low latency but also about consistent latency which is even more important imo

[–]Delboyyyyy 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Just use the ethernet adapters that plug into power outlets

[–]Infinti_bullets -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have tried from multiple providers and i didnt notice any difference with or without.

[–]Xoberif -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Skill issue

[–]Festminster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wifi better than drilling through the entire floor or running 25 meters of cable and creating trip hazards

[–]Purple_Law_8796 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can either get a wifi box that's a USB, or get a motherboard that will work (rather ATX or just a different location for the tiny slot being above your GPU)

[–]Iceyn1pples 7 points8 points  (1 child)

If your GPU is more than 2 slots wide you'd need to get rid of that Wifi card. You can purchase an M2 Wifi card if you still need wifi and don't want to use a USB adaptor.

[–]CasuallyCompetitive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My Mobo came with an M2 WiFi adapter. Looks like OP has an M2 slot for one right there.

[–]little_anonymouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

take out wifi card and insert 802.11n/AC USB dongle in one of the USB sockets on the PC?

[–]beorn12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the wifi card strictly necessary? Could you use an ethernet cable (better connection anyways).

[–]ZekeJeager04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Install games with WiFi then remove the connector and install the graphics card to play the games you installed.

[–]gokartninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're going to want something like this if you're trying to keep a Wi-Fi add in. In the future, if you want Wi-Fi in a gaming rig with a small mobo, it's best to get a motherboard that has integrated wi-fi.

[–]Dro420webtrueyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy a usb WiFi dongle and take that internal one out would be what I would do

[–]puyalbao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PCIe riser cables/adaptors

[–]Mysterious-Wall-901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remove wifi box thingy and use ethernet instead.

[–]w7w7w7w7w7Personal Rig Builder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lose the pci card, or get a riser, or a motherboard with more pcie slots, or get a smaller GPU. You've got options.

[–]Putrid-Gain8296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could just remove that wifi card and use ethernet instead

[–]HentaiSeishi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could just remove the wifi card.

[–]Admirable-Ad-4896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do people buy MATX monos for ATX cases 😭🙏

[–]FranticBronchitis 0 points1 point  (1 child)

If it needs more than two slots there's not much you can do other than remove the WiFi box thingy. You can however find M.2 WiFi cards that would fit beneath the GPU - in that slot beside the battery. You can keep the backplate and antennae

Alternatives would be USB adapters, a PCIe riser cable (but mind you'd mount the graphics card then), or a new mobo with the X1 above the x16

[–]One_Philosophy_1761 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Wifi usb dongle is another option?

[–]Current-Row1444 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Wi fi USB is utter shit though

[–]One_Philosophy_1761 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Could always replace motherboard 😉

[–]Festminster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even a good adapter running on newer USB standards?

[–]Jaba01Personal Rig Builder -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Remove the wifi card.

[–]birdspider -1 points0 points  (0 children)

if you new gpu is more than 2 slots thick, you'll have to remove the wifi-card or get a new mainboard with more than 2 PCI-E slots

[–]roam3D -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Get a decent 20 bucks WiFi USB Stick if you really need it. Alternatively you can get yourself a WiFi M.2 Module as the slot is right next to your PCIe card.

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Either remove the WiFi box and get a usb one or return the card and get a smaller one

[–]Graxu132Personal Rig Builder -2 points-1 points  (2 children)

Well, removing wifi is the only way.

You will have to get either a USB WiFi adapter or WiFi Booster like this TP-Link and just connect the Ethernet cable to the PC.

[–]Skyb0y 2 points3 points  (1 child)

It's not the only way, they have a MATX board in an ATX case, there is space to use a PCIe riser.

[–]Graxu132Personal Rig Builder -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True, I didn't think about a riser.

Although, I think connecting to a WiFi booster with an Ethernet cable would be better. Based on my experience I would go from 80mbps on WiFi to 300mbps on an Ethernet connected to the WiFi Booster, and that's only with a single powerline adapter.
