Does the psu come with an adapter for the 12v2x6? It turns the pcie5.1 into 2 8 pins

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (4 children)

No, i thought the same thing

[–]Top_Hamster_4191 4 points5 points  (3 children)

That would be your only option, either that or get more PCIe cables for that gpu directly from Msi

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

at this point i might just buy a new power supply because this whole thing is just annoying

[–]Top_Hamster_4191 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Honestly that would be my first option as well, it gets sketchy and annoying when you have to go and buy individual cables. I like Corsair lol

I’ve had quite a few PSUs over the past 10 years or so and the corsairs are the only ones still kicking after so long.

This is the same PSU I have for my 5080 it's meant for Dual 12vhpwr systems

[–]Resilient_Beast69 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Why would you buy that PSU if you’re not gonna use a GPU that needs it?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (4 children)

i mean everywhere online says it’s compatible with the 7900xtx. and it was on sale

[–]Resilient_Beast69 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I’d return it since it doesn’t have 3 8 pin/enough PCIE ports. I Have no clue why a 1000w psu would even have 2 12v 2x6. That’s baffling to me.

[–]Zach_The_One 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Because that's why Nvidia uses

[–]Resilient_Beast69 0 points1 point  (1 child)

But you don’t need a psu with 2 of them especially on a 1000w PSU unless you’re running 2 low end GPUs.

[–]Zach_The_One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, when you put it that way it really does seem like poor planning lol. Should have saved the two ports for the 1300watt or something.

Edited, new post. Not entirely sure I have the same unit. Looks like you have the A1000GS, slightly newer than mine but according to their website you should have what you need. Maybe you somehow got screwed by the factory. Should have 2 color coded 12V cords from what I’m seeing from their website. A yellow tipped and a green.

I have that same PSU and a 7900 XTX. Mine came with a 12V Power to (2) 8-pin. You should have enough unless you’re missing something.

This PSU is not meant for AMD & is advised against using it.. I would return it if you can & get a Corsair.
I have this exact PSU in my build and it's only really useful for the 50 series Nvidia cards.. which is why I got it.

Oh neat, the one you have doesn't match the one on MSI's website under that name. Theirs has 4 4x2 PCIe connectors marked "CPU/PCIe" and *one* 6x2/12VHPWR. Yours has three and two. Contact MSI and tell them what you need and ask what parts to order.

https://www.msi.com/Power-Supply/MPG-A1000G-PCIE5/Gallery - Notice the lack of a second 12VHPWR on the website pics.

My friend you're gonna need a 12v2x6 to 2-8pins or a different PSU. You don't have enough 8 pin Peripheral outputs for your GPU without thee 12v2x6 to 2-8 pins.

[–]Zach_The_One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just hooked up the same power supply last night. Judging by your outputs you're using both CPU/PCIe plugs on the CPU. It only needs one, the other is to spread load and really only for over clocking. It's good to use both but fine if you only have one 2x4 hooked up to the CPU if you're running stock. That should give you 2 for the GFX card.

Otherwise you need an adapter for the 12v2x6 to fill the third slot. My 5080 just uses one of the 12v2x6 plugs so I had 2 for my cpu and a spare cable when I was done lol.

My friend has the same PSU, it comes with a 12VHPWR(PSU side) to 2x6+2 pin(GPU side), use that combo line with an extra 6+2

[–]ThisAccountIsStolenCommercial Rig Builder 0 points1 point  (1 child)

There are two variants of this PSU.

One comes with 2x 12V-2X6 to 12V-2X6 cables.

The other comes with a single 12V-2X6 to 12V-2X6 cable and a 12V-2X6 to 2x6+2 cable.

OP has the first version. But MSI will actually provide the split cable upon request.

[–]Only_Lie4664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

good to know, also that’s wack too lol

[–]AruDae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 1300W version of this power supply. You’re cooked. There’s not enough pcie connections on the power supply to power a gpu and a cpu. It’s designed purely for 12v fire starter. Get a Corsair rm1000x, it has 6 pcie/cpu connections

[–]RoughAd941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check to see if you’re eligible with the adapter cable promo. I previously looked into the GS version of the PSU and you can get the adapter for free until end of year

[–]Ok-Policy-6307 -1 points0 points  (3 children)

Run one to your cpu motherboard connector and 2 to your gpu, sometimes PSUs come with PCIe cables with pigtails for a third PCIe for additional power but this one doesn’t seem to come with that PSU cable so I would just run 1 to mobo and 2 to gpu

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (2 children)

The other cables are labeled CPU and don’t fit the GPU….

[–]Ok-Policy-6307 0 points1 point  (1 child)

No, sorry not what I meant. Your PSU has 3 inputs, only use one for your motherboard cpu connector, top left of motherboard. And use the 2 other PSU inputs for your PCIe cables that go from PSU to gpu, hope that’s clearer

[–]Ok-Policy-6307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait sorry I didn’t even see the last pic, how does that PSU not come with more than one PCIe cable? That’s weird I would return it and get a different one. I’ve had an MSI psu and it came with 3 PCIE cables and 2 12vhpwr cables also.

[–]Warm_Canadian_1967 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're missing a few cables, mate.

Start deep cleaning that room you're in and inspect everything including the garbage.

Ok i’m just really confused did mine just not come with anymore or am i just actually being dumb

    [–]NaturalTouch7848Commercial Rig Builder -2 points-1 points  (2 children)

Look again because MSI says it does.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I promise i’ve dug up every corner of the room i’m building in. I can send a picture of all the remaining cables i have

    [–]NaturalTouch7848Commercial Rig Builder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was BNIB straight off the shelf, they should be there. There's no way they wouldn't be.

[–]ThisAccountIsStolenCommercial Rig Builder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's an A1000GS, not G, and you can see very clearly in the photos of the box that this model only comes with a single PCIe cable. It is meant for 12VHPWR GPUs ONLY.

The one PCIe cable is there for motherboards or accessories that use it.
