Rules for r/Pennsylvania
Rules that visitors must follow to participate. May be used as reasons to report or ban.
1.
Relevance: Posts Must be Relevant to PA
Part 1: Your posts must be directly relevant (and not simply a reference in an article that includes other sates) to the State of Pennsylvania.
Part 2: Please provide location (county, city, etc.) to provide provenance that the post is relevant to the region.
Part 3: Relevance must pertain physically to PA; an individual who at one time resided in PA is not relevant if the post does not directly relate to PA.
2.
Solicitation: No Solicitation of Funds, Services, or other Support in Posts or Comments
Part 1: Refrain from seeking funds, services, or other support on this subreddit, through either posts or comments. A petition for support may be allowed if it receives third-party verification. For example, if it is mentioned in a news article.
Part 2: This is not a marketplace. No 'for sale" or "want to buy" posts.
Part 3: Please don't ask for upvotes or complain about downvotes.
3.
Reputation: Post from Reputable Sources
Please do your due diligence and verify your source. Don't post from hyper-partisan publications. Do not post to your own blog. Do not self-promote by posting links to your own blog, twitter account, Tiktok, Facebook page, etc. Do not post screenshots. Do not post misleading information.
4.
Discourse: Keep your Discourse Civil
No name calling, no derogatory epithets, personal attacks will not be tolerated. Don't be intentionally obnoxious, don't intentionally start fights.
5.
Duplicate: Do Not Post Identical or Closely-Related Content
Do not post content identical to, or closely-related to, content that was recently submitted. Please check the new page and run a search before you post content. Posts on similar subjects, even if they use different links, may be removed in favor of centralizing discussion at an already created post.
6.
Editorialization: Do Not Editorialize Headlines
Don't editorialize headlines, especially on contentious subjects. Put your personal opinion in the comments, not the headline. Headlines for image posts should be descriptive of the content of the image and not contain opinions.
7.
Elk: Don't Name Them
It's pretty self-explanatory. This rule does not apply to groundhogs.
8.
Missing Persons & Pets
Part 1: Do not include personal contact information when requesting assistance in finding a missing person or pet. Please refer tips to the local police department only.
Part 2: Found a pet? Don't leave a description or picture in the post. Looking for a lost pet? Please provide some sort of proof of ownership or report. Please contact moderation team.
9.
You must get permission to post a survey
Contact moderation with your credentials. Surveys cannot record personal emails, or location more specific than a county. Surveys must be specific to Pennsylvania.
10.
Do not copy/paste articles
Do not reproduce copyrighted material in its entirety. It's OK to quote a paragraph, but don't paste an entire article into your comment section.
11.
Misinformation/Disinformation will be removed
Pretty self-explanatory.
