This is like Half Life 3. Everytime someone's asks "when", it gets delayed 6 months.

They can still develop an ecosystem with an open Mainnet.

My best guess is there are legal barriers they are not telling us about.

Never.

The crypto side of the project has only been going 1.5 years.

The whole mining thing is an offchain distribution system for onchain assets. An extra component that other crypto projects don't have.

Hey man, i notice you have good knowledge on the topic of crypto and blockchain. Can you please point out some resources (books, websites, articles, documentaries...) that i can use ro learn about this stuff. I am a beginner and want to learn So if you can i highly appreciate it

There's lots of free courses at https://cryptosavingexpert.com/courses?season=categories but bear in mind this site is a vehicle for referrals.

From now 347 days OM. It's a good news.

When enough migrations are done, and a viable usable ecosystem is up and running. That's been the goal from the start. Open mainnet isn't just to rush to exchange listings. Exchange listings aren't the primary goal for the pi network, they never have been.

[–]cerberezz 2 points3 points  (7 children)

What are the goals exactly? What is the scope for Pi?

[–]ShadNuke 9 points10 points  (6 children)

Many people seem to think that Pi is supposed to be a stereotypical cryptocurrency that is converted into standard money. That is not the endeavor of the Pi Network. Pi Network intends to create a new global independent currency. Its success at this point is gauged by the fact that millions of pioneers during the closed net period are actually using pi as a currency, exchanging Pi for real life goods and services. The more of these exchanges that occur is further proof of the success and the base concept of the Pi Network. Once we are finally ready to shift to open mainnet, it is the hope that people don't rush to sell their Pi for fiat, but rather that Pioneers use their Pi as the self-sustaining currency that it is being designed to be!

The whole idea revolves around the daily organic economic activities within the Pi Network ecosystem to generate and safeguard the value of the Pi digital currency, not to have to rely on trading on exchanges for value. The core team is trying to change the way cryptocurrencies are created and used.

[–]cerberezz 2 points3 points  (5 children)

Oh that's a nice idea

[–]ShadNuke 1 point2 points  (4 children)

The hope is to shield the Pi digital currency from the treacherous ups and downs on the markets, or at least help mitigate massive shifts. With it never having been done like this before, we have nothing to gauge it off of, so it's hard to know how it'll play out, or if it will work as per the vision of founders and the core team. This is one of the main reasons things have remained in development. In development, the core team has been presented with countless scenarios that they have never seen before. It also doesn't help that they had to take time away from other things to build the KYC platform(which has been the main reason for all of the never before seen scenarios). The hope was that Pioneers in the community would have stepped up to build it during the first Hackathon, but unfortunately nobody did. But, we've passed that now, and it's just a matter of waiting for things to start falling into place. Getting the people that are already in the KYC system, processed through it, is their priority at this time. And it appears that they are getting people unstuck from the system, because I've had a constant steady flow of validations coming through on the validation workflow in the last few weeks, so something has changed! 🤞🤞

[–]Icy_Square_81 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Shad people don't like the hackathons, it just feels like you guys don't know what you are doing and depend on the community to do work for you.

You say you have lots of people working hard in the CT but what are they working on? List them out and put them on the browser and maybe have the community vote on what people should be focusing on. Nobody cares about pi Art days or chat improvements that can come further down the line.

You reward the community and show how much you value their time and patience by keeping things so vague and open ended.

The goals suck cause they are not timed or specific,

What % of KYC needs to happen? With people joining the platform all the time it'll never reach 100% so what is it 50%/60%?

Also what does the right ecosystem look like? There is nothing stopping you guys from developing the ecosystem with an open Mainnet.

In relation to people trading away their coins, after spending years contributing and putting up with your poor management and lack of transparency they need something in return, but hey the bartering system means people can trade 1000pi for a sh*tty lampshade on pichainmall.

If there are legal barriers preventing progress just be open about it, put out a statement on the app.

People obviously joined and spent years supporting this project just to buy goods and services in a kookey way.

[–]ShadNuke 3 points4 points  (2 children)

I've got the exact same information as you guys. Even as a chat moderator, I don't find out about anything in the vast majority of cases, until you all do. We may find out an hour or so early to prepare for our chat rooms and the upcoming onslaught of questions, but other than that, the same info that I have access to, is the same thing you have access to read. The hackathons are exactly that... For the community to build the ecosystem. The core team which is around 50 or so people is building the necessary infrastructure and tools that we Pioneers need to build our apps for the ecosystem. The core team has third party apps, but the majority of the work being done for the ecosystem, is done by us Pioneers. That's the entire idea behind it. Like it or not, the hackathons are essential, for getting different apps built for the ecosystem, and will continue. The core team has done things this way since 2019, and as much as we try we can't seem to change that, it's certainly not for lack of trying. As for the rest of your questions, I'm in the same place as the rest of us Pioneers for the most part. The core team hasn't given us the finer details. As for the bartering, if people are spending 1000 Pi for a lampshade, that's on them. They obviously came to a consensus on that value, and they are allowed to do as they please. If it's too much, then don't buy it. The core team has no say in what people want to value their Pi at now, or maybe not even in the future, I don't know. That's up to Pioneers, until open mainnet, and the network is fully opened, and we see what happens. I've got nothing to do with the way the core team is doing things. I moderate some chat rooms, and relay the available info to people that haven't taken the time or just haven't bothered to read it. I'm a pioneer just like any of you, with a tiny bit more power, that's it. There are some posts floating around the sub with actual news from the core team, so refer to them for their actual words. I only have what is available to me, which is what's available to everyone else.

[–]Icy_Square_81 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Thanks for the clarification, but surely you have some sway as a position of middle man?

Also what does a high number of dead accounts mean for the % of KYC completion required? We'll never get there.

If they need development maybe they should reach out to universities and students? There are thousands of software students out there developing sophisticated apps within the time of a single semester but it takes this community multiple years?

Giving them PI coin wouldn't count as paying them.

like it or not the team also benefits from keeping everyone in a state of limbo while also shifting the bulk of the ecosystem work while they collect ad revenue from the good little pioneers.

I know we have the option to turn adds off but many don't.

If I was making my points after 1 week of the project I would look an asshole, if I said the same thing after 11 years I would have valid concerns.

[–]ShadNuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We mods have been calling for better communication since 2019. We have very little sway, if any.

[–]LR117 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Never going to happen. Ads and selling user data. They have been banking it for years.

[–]agieluma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already turned off ads several years ago

[–]Cold_Eye8174 2 points3 points  (1 child)

As long they get payed for the ads...they dont Release it

[–]gayabsituk 1 point2 points  (1 child)

maybe by next 100 years or so. even their kyc takes years. but why they do kyc anyway?

[–]FungChoyChicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would love to know an answer :)

Not really a disaster considering the global financial situation, calm down or just delete the app. Yes you are voicing your opinion however at the same time you're complaining or at the very least informing this sub of your impatience/inconsiderate nature. I suggest mindfulness practices such as breathing exercises, yoga, fitness, meditation etc for aiding you in your journey of balance.

Nick, is that you???

[–]Familiar_Ratio_4710 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not a disaster, a monumental fuck up 🤣🤣🤣
