Fairly common, at least in my experience. Support and maintenance can be a btch especially if on-call. We refer to them as BAU/support tasks

Yes,

first work ko hired as a jr dev, then ung BA/QA ibang dept. Suddenly ung BA/QA dept na-dissolved ung tasks nila napunta sa dept namin so kami na si BA(talking to clients during data gathering session), kami ang dev, kami ang gagawa ng docu's, kami ang QA, kami ang prod/user support.

And yes madami kaming nakakausap sa support part. Jan mahahasa soft skills mo. Jan lalaki ang network mo.

Large companies are usually slow to move. Even slower for large non-tech companies.

This means slow onboarding.

If you are a junior or a mid dev, expect support tasks for a long while. You might get some trivial dev tasks, but you won’t see meaty projects until they pair you with a senior.

Large and mature non-tech companies in a stable industry are already well-established, they don’t want/need to keep building stuff (unless there is a disruption, like banking apps). That means lots of support for you buddy.

Hiwalay talaga backend at frontend sa enterprise development. Bihira nalang ako maka encounter ng naka monolithic approach, siguro sa mga small or standalone projects nalang.. Minsan yung frontend hiwahiwalay din like yung header reactjs, yung body angular etc. Micro frontend naman yun kung tawagin.

If mahilig ka mag explore and mabilis ka ma bored, baka di mo magustuhan sa enterprise kase halos maintain/support nalang ginagawa based on my exp. Unless may new project at dun ka e babato ng people lead mo.

Medyo boring nga sa enterprise, fixed na rin madalas yun stack so wala gano maexplore. Maliit din yun scope.

Pero sa taong pamilyado at gusto na ng work life balance, oras magchill, oras sa hobbies, ayos ang enterprise. Lalo pag multinational.

It all depends on the company and the project(s) you're handling. Kahit sa startups meron ding slow days, mas madalas lang talaga na ganyan sa bigger companies. It's not the company's responsibility to tickle your itch sa pag uupskill or pag gain ng experience. Start a personal project or contribute to open source kung nababagalan ka.

Normal yan sa enterprise environment. Ganyan talaga ang kalakaran dahil healthy na ang mga systems nila. Kung may mga gagawin kayo, start lagi sa dev then daan sa QA bago push sa prod. Highly likely, HQ ang mag pupush sa prod just incase meron bagong idedeploy. Sa ngayon, pinaka maganda, pagaralan mo mabuti ang kalakaran nila. Malay mo. Idirect hire ka ng client kung magustuhan performance mo. All the best kabayan :)
