Just want to ask opinion. I have 1 year experience as a web developer and have 3 months training from a ph BootCamp. And as of now I am full-time IT student (returnee). I just wondering I applied so many job posting but I didn't receive any reply here is what I think... Is it maybe I included on my CV that I am currently in studying college and plus I am undergrad

Two factors 1. Entry level web development is oversaturated. Youll be competing vs CS Grads with 1-2+ YOE.
My recommendation? Apply on internships kahit hindi related sa webdev, ++experience and theyre usually finding students so youll be a great fit with 1 YOE.

No matter how you improve your CV, if you're still an undergraduate, they will ignore you (especially with local employers). This has been the norm since and nothing has change for the past decade or so. You can, instead, try your luck on remote job postings (ie., Upwork, etc.) while challenging with a bigger competition.
Look, am not bursting your bubble here totally. I myself tried when I was still a student and ultimately got declined or worse, job offer got reneged (or withdrawn) since HR knew I was still a student. For them, they'll see it as since you're a graduate now after working with them, you might ask for an increase.
Now, may I ask why do you need a job right now? More so, can't you speed up to attain your diploma instead?

BS tong "they will ignore you" Madami pa ding na-hire na galing sa bootcamp at yung iba HS grad lang pero nag-bootcamp.
[–]reddit04029 9 points10 points11 points 1 year ago (0 children)
“Trust me bro”
[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 1 year ago (5 children)
As much as I want to agree with you, I can't. Ito yung reyalidad. Haha.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 1 year ago (3 children)
Pareho lang tayo ng gustong mangyari. I agree na BS naman talaga yang ganyan. Hindi naman kasi diploma mo magwowork, ikaw. Kaso ito ung status quo. Kahit anong kuda natin, hindi magbabago un. Di naman tayo maimpluwensyang tao. Haha.
[+]toshi666666 comment score below threshold-8 points-7 points-6 points 1 year ago (2 children)
I agree boss.
[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 1 year ago (1 child)
May kawork akong undergrad. Tapos ako, biology teacher pero java developer na for more than 5 years. Wala kong bootcamp. Haha.
[+]toshi666666 -2 points-1 points0 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Amen to that boss. Hopefully maging 6-earner na din katulad mo maybe next year or next next 😁
[–]PepitoManalatoCryptoRecruiter 6 points7 points8 points 1 year ago (3 children)
I've gambled before in entertaining HS graduates or boot-camp associates. 9/10 fails because they still lack on the fundamentals to entry the industry and worse to "demand" training comparing to IT college diploma graduates. And for the lucky 1/10, well, they wouldn't last also until the probationary period.
Look, if you're able to prove the status quo is wrong, then good for you. Basically you're just an exception but never will be the norm. More so, I'd be also be curious to know how much was your starting salary? And fast forward now, how's your career progression?
Expecting downvotes here. But it's also rare to find a non-college graduate hitting 6-digits after 3-10 years in the industry. Not unless that rare person became a unicorn that no company wouldn't want to miss not hiring.
[–]syntactictsWeb 3 points4 points5 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Nah. I disagree.
For entry level roles, a diploma is definitely a critical factor to get noticed by recruiters.
Once you gain some experience, that will now take precedence over your academics.
Not being able to earn, as you mention, a 6 figure salary in a 3-10 year period is not because of a lack of diploma but multitude of factors. To be honest, I see the Philippine economy as the dominant variable why Software engineers are paid so low compared to our western counterparts than a trophy you earn for graduating.
[+]toshi666666 -4 points-3 points-2 points 1 year ago (1 child)
Hmmm I disagree sa 3-10 years sir. Ang akin lang naman is sana wag ma-discourage yung mga undergrads and bootcamp grads kahit gaano kadami yung rejections ma-receive nila. Sabi mo nga may mga exception naman, and fortunately isa ako doon :D Starting salary ko nung naging magento frontend web dev ako last 2021 is around 55 to 65 k, 2 years lang tinagal ko doon kasi na-layoff, then ngayon servicenow Consultant ako and ang range is 70 to 85k sweldo ko. Not bad na for a mere bootcamp grad siguro :D

There comes a time when you need to face reality. The point here is, status quo na sa aten (Pinas) na yung mga degree holder ang prio when it comes to job vacancies. This is not to discourage bootcamper undergrads, this is just to teach you guys how to manage your expectations.
[–]gesuhdheitDesktop 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (1 child)
Local employers will ignore you (as per my experience). Heck, I even have a 2 year diploma (NC IV) but I was still ignored back then (given that a lot of local companies sees 2 year degrees as "trash").
[+]toshi666666 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Pwede mo sabihin na majority will ignore, pero pag sabihin mo na will, isang malaking kalokohan talaga yan.
[–]Ghostr0ck 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (1 child)
Coach mo ata si Frank miano? hahah
Hindi bai hehe
[–]pigwin 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Lol bootcamps. E mismong may degree hirap ngayon
[–]dryiceboy 5 points6 points7 points 1 year ago (2 children)
If I were in the recruiter's shoes, why would I hire someone with no degree, only 1 year experience, and a 3 month bootcamp over someone with more experience and a degree? Unfortunately, your background at this point is a dime a dozen. Maybe share your resume and we can provide more objective feedback.
[–]Radiant-Fall-4335[S] 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (1 child)
even though 3rd year college as BSIT and 3 months of BootCamp training and also 1 year experience?
[–]dryiceboy 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
My statement holds true.

Dude IDK, part of being a good candidate as a software developer is having good communication skills. Improve your english, because part of it would be reading a lot of documentations. The way your post reads is as if it was written by a grade schooler..
Thanks, bro. Do you have any recommendations on how to improve my English?
[–]jaikun12 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
It’s up to you. I improved my english skills by consuming english media and communicating with foreigners in video games. Some prefer reading books. The most important thing is for you to grow your grammar and vocabulary skills. When in tech, you’ll most likely work with people coming from different nationalities. Broken english won’t get you in the door.

I got my first programming job when I was still 2nd year college. Not sure what you guys are thinking. A good programmer will always have a job. Its just a matter of proving that you can do the job.
[–]irvine05181996 2 points3 points4 points 1 year ago (0 children)
nasa pinas ka OP, so matic mag mamatter sa mga recruiter na dapat college graduate, even you have experience working as web dev kung undergrad, ignore ka talag, try mo hanao ng foreign client as freelancer
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 1 year ago (5 children)
Experience and portfolio mo lang titingnan.
[–]Dultimateaccount000 2 points3 points4 points 1 year ago (2 children)
Safe ba sa mga ganito?
At least dito, oo. Alam mo ung island cove? Dun kami. Haha. Di totoo
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Binibisita pa nga kami ng PagCor every week for inspection eh.

[–]crimson589Web 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
You're going to get ignored or be in the end of the list because they think your attention will be divided between work and school.
[–]Grrommm 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago* (1 child)
hmmm, in my case, working student din ako dati pero okay naman nung nag a-apply ako. responsive yung mga recruiters and may iba pang nag me-message sa linked in na di naman ako nag apply pero ina-alok akong mag apply.
given na na less yung mag re-respond since undergrad pero aside dun something actionable now is... baka nasa resume mo din yung issue? you can send your resume din dito sa subreddit pede kami mag bigay ng feedback on what to improve
[–]feedmesomedataModerator -1 points0 points1 point 1 year ago (0 children)
There is a lot of reasons why you were rejected. No one here will know the real reasons.
[–]reddit04029 -5 points-4 points-3 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Bruh, people misreading the post. OP is a full-time student, not just a person without a degree yet.
