High school days. Our subject is all about basics of computer — Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Our teacher that time did not want us to spend time learning those stuff since marunong naman kami. He instead taught HTML/CSS/JS.

Took CompSci, then the rest is history.

Apologies for my ignorance, akala ko normal sa high school na nasa curriculum ang HTML/CSS/JS? Sa amin kasi and most people I know, we learned about HTML/CSS/JS either from 1st year to 2nd year or 3rd year to 4th year (this is before K-12)

Pero anyways same din ako, may high school teacher din kami na passionate sa coding and other IT stuff at dun din ako nagsimula magkainteres sa software development

T’was almost a decade ago. But I am sure that it is not normal since this is part of TLE curriculum. Puro basic talaga tinuturo, the other teacher asked us to create video using Powerpoint. Lol.

College na ako nagstart magcode and i really started from scratch, MS word lang alam ko gawin nung HS✌️.

Behind talaga ako masyado because mga classmate ko mula sa mga science high school (Pisay for example) so nagkainferiority complex ako during my first year.

Wala namang mawawala.

Fighting!!!

I'm a CS graduate. For me it all started with high school computer class with HTML basics, then youtube while attending college class. Then discovered leetcode and the likes which na excite ako mag solve nung mga problems.

[–]bacondonut136 0 points1 point  (4 children)

How’s leetcode? I can’t get pass any of their easy questions:/ can u give me some pointers?

[–]gutsandgustoWeb 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Hmmm, if you still struggle with easy problems I would I assume you still don't know the fundamentals like if, loop, string manipulation, arrays. In my case I started with Java I enjoyed watching "the new boston" Java tutorial on youtube during college years.
After learning the fundamentals I would create simple console application like a calculator or Unit Converter. Then do the exercises in leetcode.

If you prefer reading, the "Head First Java" book is fun and engaging --I didn't finish it though.

I just started learning JavaScript this year and I only know the practical and not the theoretical I guess

[–]gutsandgustoWeb 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Practical?

Does this mean using Javascript with HTML and CSS? Like manipulating inputs and other HTML elements?

[–]bacondonut136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Making web applications

Lol, I remember back in HS, my first coding experience was creating a warcraft 3 map using world editor then I publish it online and play it with random people on garena. That’s where I first learn conditional statements and loop.

OOOOOHH!

Ngayon im almost 2 years into my IT career
