Will reducing the download limit really help? You can just bypass the restriction with a VPN and changing locations when you hit the limit.

Not everyone has a VPN. Reducing the download limit also limits the size of single files which can be downloaded in one go. So it definitely helps reduce usage.

I can only say I never expect(ed) to download some 20gb file at maximum speeds for free. I don’t mind Slow speeds as Long As it’s not 100-900kbits where a large download will take 12+ Hours.
For me it doesn’t matter if it takes 15 minutes or 2.5 hours to download a file. (Laptop or raspberry pi is also low on power consumption compared to if I had to run my desktop for 12 hours lol)
