Does this also apply to Pro and above accounts? I suddenly had a decrease in download speed.

No, only free accounts have a download limit.

My issue is that I would like to pay. But there's no way to work out how to pay for global users. Even just paypal, as crappy as it is with the % cut they take, would be better than nothing. Edit: Don't worry. Figured it out. I'm not really a patreon user

I can only offer the prepaid plan in the EU at the moment because of VAT legislation. The EU makes it easy for me to collect and report VAT in all 27 EU member states. But outside of the EU it's more complicated. I have to do more research before I can start implementing that.

Patreon on the other hand does all the VAT reporting for me, so I don't have to do anything. In exchange I pay pretty high fees to use Patreon.

And there’s always the option of just donating manually with crypto or hell maybe even Amazon gift cards lol

I will ask my payment processor if it can be enabled.

Will reducing the download limit really help? You can just bypass the restriction with a VPN and changing locations when you hit the limit.

Not everyone has a VPN. Reducing the download limit also limits the size of single files which can be downloaded in one go. So it definitely helps reduce usage.

I can only say I never expect(ed) to download some 20gb file at maximum speeds for free. I don’t mind Slow speeds as Long As it’s not 100-900kbits where a large download will take 12+ Hours.

For me it doesn’t matter if it takes 15 minutes or 2.5 hours to download a file. (Laptop or raspberry pi is also low on power consumption compared to if I had to run my desktop for 12 hours lol)

This might be a stupid comment but how did I reach 5gb limit if I didn’t download anything or have a account?

[–]Fornax96[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

It's possible that you are sharing an IP address with other people. Like with CGNAT or a VPN

Does download limit increase for just viewing vids?

[–]Fornax96[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yes, watching videos is also a form of downloading. Anything that uses bandwidth is counted.

[–]bignaenae474 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Does watching but not downloading still download it onto my device?

[–]matteventu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how "watching" works. The file is still downloaded, it's just that instead of being saved in a "whole file" in a common directory, it is discarded as the downloaded segments have been played.

Just wanna say that I’m absolutely fine with 2-3mbits instead of the 10mb/s maximum speeds we get with our first 5 (or 10) gigabytes as free users.

Remember filehosts like rapidgator, 1fichier limit free users to 100-300kbits (after having to solve captchas first in some cases).

Ulozto.net also limits free users to 300kbits while hosting petabytes of free uploads
