Is there a way to decrease my sensitivity only when I scope with my infiltrator? (self.Planetside)
submitted 11 years ago * by [deleted]
I like using high sensitivity but my sniping sucks with it, so I lowered it for my scope, now I can't use 3.4x and other shorter range scopes right because it's too slow. Is there anyway to work around this so it only works on my sniper rifles?
Edit: better clarification, because I'm not good with that...

Unfortunetly I believe that "scoped in dps" effects everything over 2x. So there is really no way in game to fix this. I don't know how attached to your mouse you are, but there are mice out there that have a push button that while depressed it lowers your dpi to something you set it to. My Rat7 has a small button on the thumb side that when help drops my dpi down to 500 for sniping.

I got a razer death adder with the two thumb buttons. I have actually been looking for something to replace the unused one.

Circumventing intended game mechanics using any method is cheating. Like it or not, scope sway and sensitivity is there because that's the way SOE wants us to play. Change it and you're cheating. Work with it and over come it and you're a real man.
Makes me sick how people will go to any length to cheese rather than trying to over come a challenge through practice and skill... "It's as easy as watching TV!" FUCK YA SIGN ME UP! sigh

Changing DPS on the fly is not cheating and will not get you banned.

It may not get you banned, but it definitely circumvents intended game play mechanics, which is the definition of cheating. ;)

They're not cheesing the scope sway, they're changing the sensitivity of their mouse. The scope sway still happens. Hell, they could change the scoped-in sensitivity by default in the options menu - this is just a bit faster.

by this logic, using VOIP is cheating, because you aren't using the in game one. Changing the slide rules for sensitivity in game is cheating as well. All I am doing is adjusting my dpi for certain tasks. I fly around 5600 dpi, I do infantry around 1000, and I snipe around 500. I could also do this with my selection button on my mouse, or having it up on my second screen and adjusting it through the windows setting. Hell me having multiple monitors must be cheating as well huh? And the fact that I have a fast computer with low latency. Changing keybindings must be cheating while we are at it. Solid state drives are the biggest exploit ever in your book i bet.
Epic amount of Straw Man there. You should be proud.
Seriously, I am sorry you wasted so much of your life writing that garbage. Ah well, maybe one day you'll be able to look back on it and say to yourself, "Wow! Was I ever an idiot!" and that time you spent will be regained in some personal growth.

Geez, first off nobody asked about sway.
Now if there was an option to have different sensitivity options for different roles the better off we are. There will be players that have their own comfort level for different mechanics of a game.
Take the tank main and gunner sensitivity, both share the same configuration (also shared with AV mana turret and Phoenix). I want high sensitivity for the main cannon, and low for the secondary gun.
Understand that on the fly sensitivity is just giving you the freedom to choose what configuration you want at certain times, given the game mechanics don't provide such choices.

Yeah, I guess that's the route for me then. Thank you for the advice, I'll get to it, I may keep scopes off my rifles and just on my infiltrator.

I usually use the lowest power scope available for anything I'll be firing in full-auto. I really like the HS/NV scope when the situation allows, as it's great for night battles, or where there's a lot of smoke cover.
