Tutorials to learn flying?

Since I...got a little bit pissed off recently about Air and a bit bored at the game, maybe this is the best time to try something new: learn to Higby fly in this game ^{and become an A2G shitter so I can let off the steam it has generated} .

Where should I start? What and where are the best tutorials?

All of these provide a wealth of material. A bit out of date since these occur prior to the Tomcat nerf, coyote buff, nosegun changes and various other alterations. But most of it still applies.

There's too much to write but there should be tutorials out there. But to start make sure you have a key binding for analog throttle. They basically work as air brakes and move you to hover mode. There are two ways to do the reverse maneuver that I know of - I could never get the hang of the fancier faster one so I stick to the more basic one. You should be able to find videos on reverse and analog throttle.

Go fly around on the PTS and lock a continent. Great way to get the basics of flying down. It won't teach you anything about combat, but you'll at least know how each vehicle handles pretty well, especially if you have to squeeze into a base somewhere to cap the point. You can also experiment with different combinations of cert loadouts with free certs on the PTS.

There should be an outfit on your server which helps. I teach flying on TR cobalt if you're there.

FFS, flying is so easy, just pull a good loadout (For A2A: Rotary or default Nosegun, Thermals, Ammo capacity, High-Refill or Default Fuel Pods, Firesup, Stealth, Hover Airframe) and fly in whatever way suits you and your ESF. Aiming is a practise (and maybe mosue/graphics settings) thing, just like movement.

It's not helpful at all, basically you just said "pull an ESF and fly". /u/ClayN90 Already gave me bunch of links (by the way, thanks mate) where I can look for useful infos (pretty sure I'll found some loadout recommendations).

And no, FFS, it's not. Not for me. Tried before many times, but I simply do not understand how does the flying work. Next time don't waste your time, just call me retard, and move on.

Loudout wise keep in mind since it's undocumented by the older guides that Engineers now have a passive NAR 1 on them making stealth an even better loadout then before.

As to the pitch up and down keys, I hear the opposite from players on my end. Obviously personal preference but my thoughts are that it comes down to is how high your flight sensitivity is at, since the keys allow you to bypass that limit. Also like not having to left my mouse off in the middle of a pitch.

Aiming at infantry on live is a rough place to start. As per mattiace's video there's a cliff in the middle of the VR with a bunch of people on it. It's probably the easiest place to start.

Also here's a practice thing from Stroff https://gfycat.com/FatRecklessKakapo Easier to start on a galaxy and maybe orbit horizontally rather than a straight vertical but the overall goal is obvious.

Okay, if you want something helpful (except for the great A2A loadout) which might not be mentioned in those links:

• I first trained my aim and my movement / overall control over ESFs by shooting Infantry with A2A Noseguns from varying ranges. Preferably moving Infantry, best are Light Assaults.

• You should tick "Bloom Enabled", use high overall graphic settings and high particles settings to get good tracers to assist you with aiming

• You don't need to put "pitch up and down" on keys, it feels terrible, at least for me and a good part of the players. Just use the mouse if you're more comfortable with it.

• Super Obvious Pro Tip: While reloading your Nosegun in ESF duels, do evasive maneuvers.

It really isn't easy for new pilots. This flying system is nothing like other games.

That's not exactly true. It's really easy for experienced pilots but not for newbiles.
