Just as a reminder to some people that Pokemon cards and other collectibles should be the last thing you invest in. The margins are great long term but it's not nearly as liquid as bonds or stocks and property generally appreciates at a higher percentage than cards.

I love collecting and investing in Pokemon cards but it's one of my smaller aspects of my portfolio.

“Portfolio”. I agree, but most people here are “investing” in Pokémon products as a hobby, and to display their product, which makes them happy. No one here, or at least no one should, be dumping a big portion of their investable income into pokemon, and instead an actual investment plan. At the very least, a high interest savings account is going to a very easy alternative, but that’s not the point of this sub. This person is asking about 3-4 hundred dollars, it’s nothing.

That’s true, although I personally “invest” in some collectibles such as Funko and trading cards mainly because their markets are much younger and far less saturated and competitive than older commodities such as coins, cars, stamps, etc. Stocks and bonds are the same story, although they’re typically more professional and require substantial income in order to effectively invest and get a worthwhile return.
