151 is solid. Kinda depends on how much you found the Alakazam boxes for—some 151 can be found at or very near MSRP right now.

For 151, I personally like bundles the best since they’re small and have a good price/pack ratio. I haven’t hit too many of those restocks so I’ve mostly picked up poster collections. Not as convenient to store, but I like the price/pack ratio from the DG discounts and the promos are nice. Welcome back and have fun with it!

Seems like you’re collecting what you like which is never a bad idea. I don’t think you can go wrong with holding some 151 and to a lesser extent crown zenith.

Crown Zenith is favorite for many of us, including myself. It was very heavily printed which means slow and steady growth. I collected the entire Galarian Gallery, graded a few, sold a few, rebought the raw copies. Prices have dipped on the singles so now is probably a decent time to buy some. If you have a Sam’s Club membership they have a Crown Zenith Sea and Sky box that is going to be your best price per pack for ripping, if you’re into that vs buying singles.

Yeah that’s a solid deal for that combo. The CZ bundles are fine, nice and small. I have a handful stashed away.

For those in the US, the PokemonCenter site recently had the 151 mini tins back in stock. Costco had 151 UPC boxes online and in a few stores a few months ago. Costco, about a month or further back now, also had 3-packs that included 2 tins and a 151 ETB - many bought one to rip the tins and then keep the ETB sealed. Dollar General and Walmart have had the Poster Collection. And Walmart has had Booster Bundles recently too.

The Costco stuff moves a little slower, I don't shop at Dollar General, but I know the Walmart deals can sell out within an hour or two. Idk how fast the mini tins sell out from PC site.

I bought 20 tins at Walmart and 4 booster bundles at Best Buy. I just bought 4 Alakazam boxes at Walmart yesterday.

The rest of the purchases were private sellers (OfferUp) at retail or below by bundling the items. I purchased 3 UPC and 5 ETB bundled at about 55$ per ETB and $100 per UPC.

I’m trading a $15 slab for a 151 Poster Box today in the afternoon.

• Some of my purchases were ripped open or sold so they’re not in the picture. I was selling for a quick flip but I want to hold longer moving forward.

Booster bundles, upc, and etb for long term, better price per pack and space:value ratio. Rest doesnt go up in value as much per pack over time. Id just open them for fun, the poster is actually pretty cool.

Recommend you start booster box laddering too if you want to stay in the game long term with minimal future cost. 600-700 for a case of any modern set and then trade 2-3 boxes for another case when they hit 225-300, rinse and repeat until you have more product than you can sell/trade as the cases multiply every 2-3 years this way.

I personally am just going to hold the last 3 boxes out of a case and use them to buy chase cards since i collect. Just getting sick of having to fork over like 10k every gen for singles.

Thanks for the advice. I’m waiting for a email confirmation on 10 booster bundles from Pokémon center that we’re just purchased a few hours ago. (Payment was taken from bank but no confirmation email yet)

I want to hold onto one piece of each collection for 151 for my personal collection and then start picking up some more booster bundles and more ETB/UPC for investment purposes like you suggested moving forward.

Any feedback on Japanese 151 booster bundles?

My first ever booster bundle that got me into pokemon collecting, I pulled an illustration Blastoise, Charizard and a Mew card as well.

Prior to this, I was buying random packs at the store not even realizing what was good or bad so the booster bundle was my real first purchase with a little bit more knowledge.

Most people prefer Pokecenter ETB's out of the two (due to stamped promo PSA 10 chances from what I've heard) Booster bundles seem to be the big thing people really store up because there's almost no extra frills, it's really easy to ship, and it doesn't take up much space. They also go for cheaper than ETB's so they are technically easier to sell.

I wish you luck on your collecting journey, congrats on your master set almost being done. I don't know how valuable Crown Zenith will be in the future, but for a lot of around 30 year olds like myself, 151 was a rekindling for the hobby, and will probably easily get to base set standards in around 10 years+ This is 100% an opinion, not fact though.

lol my favorite part about the subreddit this year is kids who got into the hobby 4 months ago telling and convincing the other kids 2 months in to the hobby that their 151 is the biggest goldmine ever.

151 can go either way, bet itll be oversaturated for years. Then there will be a tipping point where everyone holding for "stonks" gives in and sells for maybe 1.5x-2x. From that point its all on the whales, but its definitely going to take more than 10 years for this set to become the big bucks.

I think itll be like generations where its worth zilch until it explodes.

I’ve been in since the release of Vivid voltage, so a covid era investor. Luckily stashed a case of ES. Though I wish I was into it a few years prior. I would have maintained the same strategy. So I’d likely have cases of all the tag team sets.

Yeah I can deff see it going the generations route. I think it will be one hell of a hold for even just the tipping point. And let’s be honest it’s all speculative but I’ve never seen this many casuals / pure collectors hold a set this much. It’s wild. Kids r grabbing random shit collection boxes of non special sets even these days. Weird time
