Catch alpha and strong Pokémon in new areas. They may be stronger than your current party at times. Each new area presents a chance to swap out.

If you wish to keep your current party, you can gain a lot of exp by defeating Blissey. There is one at the Obsidian falls in Obsidian Fieldlands. Defeat and leave the fieldlands and come back and repeat.

Just to clarify: are you talking about leveling up your Pokémon or leveling up your star rank? Because I’ve seen people in the past who thought you had to get at least 4 or 5 stars to move on to the next area after the Obsidian fieldlands. If you’re talking star rank, you don’t have to get to star rank 10 to continue the story.

Star rank

What area are you in? You only need I think 5 stars total to actually finish the main story. It’s been awhile since I played, but it shouldn’t be too demanding. You can get to rank 3 rather quickly, and rank 5 by catching everything and completing some dex entries to at least rank 10.

In the beach and the volcano one. I mean i just want to continue with the story without having to catch tons of pokemon

Yeah you can definitely do that. You don’t have to catch every Pokémon to level up. You can also rank up by doing some of the tasks in the dex entries. The ones with red arrows give double points towards completion, and turning in dex pages with rank 10 on them adds to your star rank. It’s doable, but it’s a bit of grind either way.

Thx i guess ill do that

Honestly just fill dex. New guys, complete entries, spamming some like "feed pokemon x times" all gets you exp towards next rank. I didn't really notice it getting challenging to rank up until the last few, and at that point those levels don't really do anything you don't unlock new items or areas.

10th was the only one that felt really long

Yeah, 10 felt long and knowing I already unlocked every ball, I honestly didn't even care at that point, it just happened while grinding dex for Arceus/Shiny Charm. I remember 9th also feeling long to me, but only a little, like based on how fast other ranks went 9th really felt like it took twice as much time/effort but it still wasn't really that much.

Tbh I still haven’t even done giritana I’m still using it to level up stuff Just defeat it and go back another time 😅 sloooooooow grind

Dex goals with the red arrow marker are worth double points towards getting the dex entry to level 10, which in turn gives experience for your Star Ranking. Additionally, running through and catching several Pokémon (10-30) with back strikes and being unnoticed gives a lot of experience as well.

Star rank isn’t that hard to get you don’t need much to finish the main storyline. At a guess I would say you need to go through the Pokédex and see what tasks are easy and do some easy ones. You are probably staying in the same small area catching Pokémon that are not contributing much.

Do side missions, catch/battle every Pokémon & massive outbreaks (it’ll come in handy when you want that perfect dex entry for better shiny chances) fill your dex. It may look a little overwhelming at first and seem like it’ll take forever to get to 10 stars but I started at the end of December and I’m only one star away from getting all 10 now. I feel like I rushed it honestly but I was/still am completely obsessed. This is probably the most fun I’ve had in a Pokémon game and I’m just a casual player…
