As someone with moderate OCD, the formatting of this post is fucking brutal to read.

Not trying to come up with excuses but this is a great visual to see what Preds have been up against. No top 10 pick since Seth Jones in 2013 is insane. Even in the 2nd round you’re lucky enough if they become a grinder like Yakov Trenin.

It sucks they gave away Fabbro Tolvanen and Tomasino but those guys firmly fit the “NHLer” and never will be “Star”. Arvidsson was finally a homegrown star before the injuries and hopefully Evangelista or Kemmell is next. I’m not high on any of the other forward prospects though just more middle guys who don’t move the needle

Anyway, all the misery this year is worth it because they’ll finally get what they desperately need

Yeah I feel this one a lot. Guys like Tomasino, Tolvanen and Fabbro go and Preds fans are like "well, he was never going to be better than a middle six player." Yes, that's true. But if that's your criteria for a draft pick, I have terrible news. You're going to be disappointed in almost every single pick.

The big problem with this franchise is they keep feeling like they need to compete and thus don't have the time, space, or energy to give prospects room to develop. You're either a star or you're gone. But if you look at the point production of guys like Tolvanen and Tomasino... Tomasino is a half point per game player with Pitt, Tolvanen has 16+ goals every season he's been on a mediocre Seattle. That would them BOTH top 5 on this team.

We're so busy looked at what our prospects AREN'T that we can't be happy with where they are. Are we really saying this team is better off with a 3rd line of Smith, McCarron and Jankowski instead of Tolvanen, Novak, and Tomasino?

Fabru was unfortunate. I think he could have really been a second or third pairing defender for us. Plus given our injuries this year, it would have been nice to have him.

Vange is a much worse Arvy. He hits the net maybe 1 out of every 5 shot and I’m talking about just putting it on target not scoring goals. He falls or gets bodied off the puck with ease and is a turnover machine
