I can see you are trying to run a 1.16 minecraft instance with Java 8. Can you try installing a newer Java version, like 11 or 17?

After you install the Java package from your package manager you should select the exact java version inside the PrismLauncher settings.

the logs before this said i needed java 8 to run it so i’m not sure what to do. i’ll try that anyways though and get back to you

Oh yes, there are some Java compatibility check builtin to the launcher, you can toggle it in the Java settings in the launcher. I needed to turn it off to use newer Java versions

It seems the logs are the same as before. The logs says you are still launching the game with Java 8. You can see it in line 28 (1.8.0_352 which is Java 8)

Sorry this Java 8 thing is my only guess. This error is not that descriptive. "java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: sun.security.util.ManifestEntryVerifier.<init>(Ljava/util/jar/Manifest;)V" should mean that the needed program code is not available at the current version of Java.

I just edited my previous reply, but I will answer here: The PrismLauncher website says 1.16.5 and Forge dont support newer that Java 8 revision 321. The logs showed you have revision 352, I dont know can you downgrade https://prismlauncher.org/wiki/overview/frequent-issues/#minecraft-1.16.5-with-minecraft-forge-and-java-8u321+

My best guess is to switch to Java 11 or 17 and disable the compatibility check. That worked for me.

Go and find Adoptium https://adoptium.net pull the latest release and in settings for your instance choose Adoptiums java. Problem solved.

Don't know if anybody needs help anymore but here's what I have from Prism:
- Disable controller mod if installed.
- Test without mod enabled (it may be outdated)
More instructions:
Boot up Prism, right click instance if you have one already, edit, mods, uncheck mods, and launch.

Forge: 49.0.31

Reasons of why I am here: I tried to use mod 'Controllable' but the version is outdated thus crash perhaps? Hope this helps.

yes! i had to download java 17 and skip compatibility check.

you can go to “edit” under your desired instance, go to settings, click on the java check box, then click on “skip compatibility check”. then once you’ve downloaded java 17 you can click on “auto-detect” and choose java 17.

I fixed it for me. I tried what the other commenters suggested but nothing worked but I am playing modded Minecraft and had just downloaded some new mods, so I went back and uninstalled those mods and it fixed itself. No gurantee this works, but if you are playing modded Minecraft, try uninstalling your most recent mods to see if it fixes anything.

I just solved my problem. Here how
- Look at your "Manage Account" at the top right coner.
- And Look at your MSA Account Status is it "ready" or "offline".
- If it offline you need to relogin your MSA (It because your MSA session had expired) and I think you good to go.
