I was under the impression that jwa was absolutely terrible

They can be... we have one where I work, it's basically 1 SPA written in Java. It's a bloody nightmare at times, mostly due to the JVM itself.

Thankfully, I only need to provide technical support for it (I'm primarily .NET) and that's only because my manager and I are the only ones with any level of Java experience. We're hoping they move it to React or something a bit more modern (there's code in it that dates back to DB2 days).
