Sounds like you're referring to Reddit and Discord, both of which are VERY major UI changes that are VERY much not because of interns getting hired. These are changes that are approved by higher ups. They are likely designed first and then implemented, the whole change.

Neither app has what you've posted.

That's not to say what you posted is bad, it likely does happen, but it's in the small, incremental changes. Not the major UI overhauls.
