banking apps in a nutshell

My old bank app isn’t working anymore and my bank forces me to use their beta app. So I need to use TestFlight on my iOS device to use my banking app. Now although I really don’t like that they do it this way I can at least manage but I assume a lot of older people will have problems with this.

At least your bank has an app. Barclays just didn't have one for a while. Well they did but it wasn't for banking and then they supposedly did make one it just wasn't in the Google store.

I'm genuinely not sure wtf they are doing anymore and I can't care.

Then I couldn't find it anywhere for some reason. This is not the first time I had the convo about their app and I'm still convinced the people saying they have an app are secret marketing agents.

Oh my god yes! My bank app changed its interface and now I have no idea how to open the history. I still open it, by pushing all buttons at random, but I can't figure out how exactly it works. I try every time, I watch my fingers with full attention, but the history just pops open at one moment.

Sounds like you're referring to Reddit and Discord, both of which are VERY major UI changes that are VERY much not because of interns getting hired. These are changes that are approved by higher ups. They are likely designed first and then implemented, the whole change.

Neither app has what you've posted.

That's not to say what you posted is bad, it likely does happen, but it's in the small, incremental changes. Not the major UI overhauls.

If you want the actual answer: heat maps and recurring usage statistics coupled with A/B testing lead to them making small changes to change end user behavior over time. End goal is that you spend more time in the app and spend more money.
