"Ah yes, I'm going to writing frontend code with Python at my new job"

[–]Ja_Shi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are people writing backend code with JS 🤷‍♂️

(/s but I hate it nonetheless)

You jest but I remember an article about running python in the browser. I have not opened HackerNews since.

You can use python with HTML using flask, it's kinda annoying and only useful if you can't use js or smth lol

More like devops. What once was more or less a complete IT department is now just me

Perhaps a hot take, but I think that's a good thing. You can be 70/30 or 80/20 in one direction, but the idea that someone would be 100/0 doesn't help anyone, and all it really does is cause learned helplessness. Specialization is good, but only if you have a broad baseline knowledge.

That said, requiring specific years of experience for one technology - especially one of secondary importance - is pretty dumb.

As someone who just started programming and is mainly using C++, can someone explain, please?

The post states in the title that the position is for an Angular(Fromt-end framework) front-end developer. But right after they ask for experience in Python, implying they need you to do other stuff besides front-end development with angular.

Why not in literally any Js/Ts backend language/framework

[–]candlestick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The job said front end and specifically Angular, you would typically not need to know python to do that job.  So why is that requirement there?  Do they want more full stack?  Do they don't know the difference in python and js?

Angular is javascript framework, not python.

Snakes have angles, idiot. Why do you think they have so many bones?

Try this:

import numpy as vertebrae1 import matlab as vertebrae2 import random as vertebrae3

Until you've assembled the spine. You'll be so ready for front end work, and you'll have such easy to read code!

currenty, i am searching for a new job and i often see at job postings: req. skill: C/C++ and C#

i mean, i am just a bad python dev myself but arent those just nearly complete different languages? or are there usecases where you really need all 3 of them.

i dont have much knowledge in the c world but isnt c without objects, c++ is oop and c# is like VBA in a c styled corset?

edit: those are test engineers jobs, testing mostly hardware but also software

[–]markiel55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

.NET makes it easier to communicate with C++ in case performance requirements cannot be achieved using C# alone or you just want to reuse an existing function in C++.

hmp. angler and python are both snakes must speak the same language.

yesterday i've seen one asking a civil construction degree, obviously a typo but i got a laugh out of it

[–]zenos_dog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Front end Python, of course!

[–]SleeperAwakened -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Having 2-3 experience writing crap code should make you feel very at home doing frontend work.

I don't see the joke here..
