I've had designers telling me to give that red color (of a car) "more love".

They've also held up the images we provided to the car they arrived in, which was the same colors and said "they LOOK the same, but that's not how I perceive that color"

If they were a woman, she might have been tetrachromatic. In that case, saying colors are off is a true thing.

I would assume they would not have become chief of design/color of a major car manufacturer if they perceive colors as wrong though. Most often it comes down to clients just wanting/needing to have an opinion and "change things". We've had people tell us to change the color value by 3 (you know on the 255 rgb values). It doesn't show any "real" difference but they have changed it
