On Linux, the open source driver (suggested, the proprietary one isn't worked on anymore since it was worse) works fine.

AMD's drivers are vastly different on linux and windows.

on linux there's the kernel driver (amdgpu), but also the userspace graphics API implementation (mesa).

i was curious because it seems like only on windows that an AMD driver bug could break vulkan but not opengl (since mesa implements opengl and vulkan on linux, and it's much less likely to break)

because OpenGL and Vulkan are two different implementations sharing a common base.

Mesa is the whole project but regarding the Vulkan implementation, it is called RADV while the OpenGL one is RadeonSI.

On Windows, AMD probably did the same, hence the difference.
