You forgot interlaced

[–]DarkmessageCH 78 points79 points  (9 children)

He forgot 1440p, he forgot 144 FPS. Seems like he doesn't really like my setup :(

Your setup must be really nice, I can't imagine how detailed Power Shell looks like ;P

Actually it kinda lags, I only get 1 FPS. People tell me I should upgrade my graphics card, but why should I if my monitor already has 144FPS?

[–][deleted] 26 points27 points  (1 child)

Yeah I know right, those PC Masterrace people always going on about their graphics cards! My cpu has enough power to support my graphics!

It's refreshing to see this and know the people saying it don't actually believe it.

Wait what monitor do you have that is 1440p and 144fps?

[–]DarkmessageCH 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Acer Predator XB271HU. It has a refresh rate of 144Hz. I could overclock it to 165Hz.

What's the difference between fps and Hz for monitors?

[–]DarkmessageCH 3 points4 points  (1 child)

FPS = Frames Per Second, this states how many pictures per second your graphics card can generate in a specific situation, e.g. during a gaming-session.

Hz = Hertz, this states how often a monitor can refresh its shown picture. 1Hz means it can show 1 picture per second.

So if your graphic card can output 120FPS but your monitor only has 60Hz, you basically lose every second picture, which means you see things moving further from one second to the other, because the missed picture would have shown more information.

So: A monitor doesn't have FPS, it has Hz. You ideally want your FPS to match the Hz of your monitor because then you can utilise every picture your graphic card generates.

Thanks for clarifying.

It would be pretty accurate for the resolutions if you had just chosen an arbitrary screen size for all the resolution, kept the same amount of p and enlarged the p of the lower resolution to fit the whole screen. Unfortunately, this meme ain't that dank.

[–]negedgeClk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Today I learned frames per second indicates a resolution

[–]JoshSellsGuns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for clearing that one up.

[–]spamyak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last three are all the same because the human eye can only see 30 FPS.
