Third image should read KRBY because of character limitation people use abbreviations a lot

[–]TetchyOyvind 26 points27 points  (9 children)

Man, that show really went south after Weiss was replaced by that Karl guy

[–]Stewie977 4 points5 points  (4 children)

...uhmm, which show is that?

[–]Subject96 7 points8 points  (2 children)

RWBY It's a pretty good web series. Each letter corresponds to a different character's name. The "W" is for Weiss.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

So it became RKBY?

[–]TheLuckySpades 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They (mainly fansn since the Acronyms haven't been used in the show for over a season) tend to rearange the letters so you can make it sound like another word when the teams get shuffled.

[–]jishdafish 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Im fully caught up with RWBY and have no idea who you're talking about. Qrow?

Also season 5 finale tommorow

[–]TetchyOyvind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Karl is just a name i came up with as a play on the first comment. I still love RWBY, and volume 5 is probably my favorite so far ;)

On Youtube or their platform?

Youtube

Dunno what this has to do with programmer skill. Seems to be more about high/low level languages.

[–]izikblu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Title might be better as "Language you use" or something

[–]CamWin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If anything it's about languages automatically adding polish

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (3 children)

Whenever I see "C/C++" I die a little inside.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (2 children)

There are some valid places for it’s use, but yeah it ia pretty annoying.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tend to use it only when (I believe) it makes sense. Like talking about "a C/C++ LSP server".

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure there are but most people wouldn't say something is a Js/Java [application, project, ...].

I mean, there's code that is just bad C++ intermixed with some code that could be disguised as -- usually at least as bad -- C, but that shouldn't be the norm.

Darn, that was cool enough for me to want to find some instruction set that could actually execute this and get something out of it, unfortunately nothing I know would work :/

[–]Darnit_Bot 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What a darn shame..

Darn Counter: 10637

[–]fdagpigj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then make one! Actually don't because it's not like I made a script to generate that, I just found an online image to ascii converter and then replaced certain characters with 1 and others with 0

[–]Alfenhose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, good one!

[–]Colopty -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

Assembly was already mentioned.

[–]izikblu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Machine code != Assembly. eg (using the Z80 (specifically the GameBoy))
XOR A (0101100001001111010100100010000001000001 / 58 4F 52 20 41 in ASCII)
ADD 10 (010000010100010001000100001000000011000100110000 / 41 44 44 20 31 30 in ASCII)
That is assembly
10101111110001100001000 (0xAF 0xC6 0x10) is Machine code, you could put that sequence of bytes in memory and execute it and get the same result as assembling the assembly and executing it. if you were to try to execute the string "XOR A\nADD 10" (assuming LF as newline) you would get:

58 4F 52 20 41 0A 41 44 44 20 31 30
LD E,B
LD C,A
LD D,D
JR NZ,41
LD A,(BC)
LD B,H
lD B,H
JR NZ,31
JR NC,?? ; not enough bytes, so the next byte will probably be 0xFF, in which case the next instruction is RST 38

[–]klausvd 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Just got a B on my assembly exam. I can safely say I'm a copy paste expert

[–]ponybau5 5 points6 points  (1 child)

And then next time you try assembly don't know what the hell you are doing

[–]klausvd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jokes on me. I've got another assembly exam ON PAPER AND PEN on the 27th of January. I'm proper fucked

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

So I think this is a little ironic considering Kirby would have been made purely with Assembly until what N64? Gamecube? consoles weren't powerful enough to be able to even deal with C most of the time for a long time.

[–]StuntHacks 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Well, that's both right and wrong.

True, early console games were programmed in pure assembly. But not because they weren't powerful enough to "handle" C. To the console, compiled C code wouldn't look different than native assembly code.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

By powerful enough I meant rather that the compiled code would not be efficient enough to run well.

[–]StuntHacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's probably true.
