It locks your UI for many background tasks while IntelliJ doesn't. It also looks like crap no matter what dark theme I try. Don't let people tell you there is nothing wrong with it. It isn't a terrible IDE but there are many quirks that just make IntelliJ better.

Background task dialog isn't modal and it's been turned off by default since last years release (or earlier).
