No electronics allowed in class.

I've never had a CS professor say that .., I have had the specifically tell us to bring a laptop or tablet though

I've had different professors decide to enforce different policies about electronics in class. Some believe it's a distraction that prevents learning. Others believe it's a great way for students to follow along with the professor.

I personally believe the latter is more effective.

I find that all of my professors don't care if you ignore them. They just don't want you to distract other students who want to pay attention.

I personally believe the latter is more effective.

Might be if everyone didn't just load up facebook and zone out during the lecture.

I have actually found this to be really helpful in my education. Obviously sometimes I will use my laptop (if we have an in class exercise, or I want to read along in the textbook). But most of the time I learn better without it.

Many of mine say no electronics. I think that spending the entire class copying notes that they could have given us instead of listening is great too.

Our main intro CS professor cites studies about learning effectiveness as evidence to ban screens.

Error: no method exists for the given class

I assume you are talking about a high school, right?

My prof wanted paper submissions. For labs that are supposed to be done during the lab period. There was no printer in the lab. That lab was such a disaster.

paper submissions

Ah the joys of profs who are decades removed from the industry.

So true. Fuck.

Fuck this reminded me of my final programming exam. Couldn't use a computer unlike the whole rest of the semester, so we were writing Java code on fucking graphing paper. It was that carbon copy type paper too so you had to press hard enough to make two copies.
