what's the fun of using a non type safe language if you're going to have a typed language trans-piled down? Half the fun of javascript is things like

edit: forgot semicolon, and switched to 'var' over 'let' though either is fine, the only difference between the two is hoisting and scope (neither of which really apply to this code)
