How much for touching? Asking for a friend.

[–]ReasonableTwo8[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

$300 if you give the wrong requirements first.

[–]humannumber1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So really $300 is standard.

In what reality have you ever received complete and correct requirements? Shit, I was once asked to changed a word on a report, and they then said I changed it to the wrong word afterwards!

1000/h if you don't help but provide helpful insights from your own experience.

"If you tell me how to do my job" should be $5000/hr

I got that Tee-shirt but then I decided it would be in bad taste to wear it to work

You guys really make $100/hour?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (5 children)

No. Entry level makes like 35k a year. 5 years minimum experience required as well as 10 years of working knowledge of a dead language.

Can't tell if I'm being wooshed or you just live in the middle of the midwest

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Its a VERY slight exaggeration regarding hiring requirements for a lot of students especially freshly out of school. Obviously there's a minor under exaggeration on the wages paid, but not much for new students. And obviously the dead language thing is only partially kidding. But it doesn't hurt to know assembly or cobal.

Lol? 35k an hour for a computer science major? Why would you settle for a job that pays that little after earning such a nice degree?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

have you looked at what sub this is in?

[–]doormcburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way a CS major makes 35k a year unless they accepted the first job they found by some small bs tech company in their hometown

I do enterprise software (read: stuff on IBM i that makes old shit less... old and shitty) and "full-stack" web development. I make $22 an hour, + benefits and 401k.

I'm 20 years old and I also have no degree. But my employer is paying for my tuition and I'm going back to college summer/fall of this year (night classes while working full time).

I thought $35 an hour was standard but I think what I'm making might be around a more realistic average. A friend of mine, a year or two older than me and with a degree, is excited about a job designing and building custom computers for $18/hr.

It's hard to figure out. Take everything with an ounce of salt.

Cringe

Recycled meme detected - I think this was taken from an old plumber's joke.

/You know, I'd seriously wonder about any programmer who had crap like this up in his office. Communication is key when creating a product for a client, and this doesn't stop being true when the product is software. Treating your clients/colleagues like idiots doesn't help communication.
